Street Cred, Notoriety, and Public Awareness
I like the idea of keeping track of these reputation values to award dice bonuses when they are relevant, but the system in 4th edition is terrible. We will continue to track these values but they will be awarded and adjusted by the storyteller as he sees fit and not subject to any formula. Here are some guidelines.
Street Cred - a measure of the character's performance and accomplishments.
- Increases for an exceptional performance in a mission, a harrowing escape, an epic accomplishment, etc.
- Decreases for a sub-par performance in a mission, a near-death experience, or a mission failure.
Notoriety - a measure of the negative/evil side of a character's reputation. It can decrease at the storyteller's discretion, usually over time. You may want to keep track of how each point was earned. Ways to gain notoriety include:
- Failing or refusing to finish a run.
- Insulting or otherwise pissing off a Mr. Johnson.
- Picking a fight and losing.
- Incredibly obnoxious or callous behavior.
- Getting arrested.
- Betrayal.
- Killing an innocent person.
- Earning a powerful enemy or contract on her life.
- Working for a dragon.
- Exceptional bad luck.
Public Awareness - a measure of the publicity a character has received. It can decrease at the storyteller's discretion, usually over time. You may want to keep track of how each point was earned. Ways to gain public awareness include:
- Being someone famous.
- Appearing on the cover of every major tabloid magazine in the country.
- Being involved in a gunfight in a crowded shopping center.
- Getting caught hacking into top secret datastores with stolen credentials.
Surgery Costs
Since F.A.T.E. has the facilities to perform surgery on its members, as well as the staff to safely and discreetly carry them out we figured F.A.T.E. members would commonly get cyberware and other surgeries done here. We were unable to find out exactly how much of a cyberware cost goes to medical expenses, so we've decided to house rule it.
- For most major implant surgeries (Cyberware, bioware, etc.) medical expenses are assumed to be 10% of the included cost of the implant.
- Doc is typically willing to perform implant surgeries at a 5% discount to F.A.T.E. ops, keeping 5% as a fee for the surgery. (Example: Talk:Anastasia: Character Sheet)
