11 Elona, 25 ABY - House Palace, Csaplar, Csilla, Unknown Regions

Akea guided the larger falling boulders toward the skywalk, particularly targeting a section of the bridge just north of the midsection that was warped from the force scream. The bridge was visibly weakened from the force scream, or else the durasteel could have easily handled thousands of pounds of falling rock. The steel fractured at the point of impact, about 10 feet in front of Darth Krayt as he moved toward Akea. Krayt disappeared from view as the bridge fell, the steel at the far end of the bridge bending under the weight of the center pavillion.

  • Darth Krayt Dexterity + Athletics to maintain balance - failed

Krayt lost his footing on the smooth durasteel surface as the bridge bent downward. He slid off the edge and began free-falling. However, Akea did not have even the luxury of catching his breath. He looked skyward toward the three military transports with their laser turrets trained on his position. He sensed they were about to fire, and that remaining on the bridge was probably ill-advised. His Jedi instincts gave time to react.

((The transports would have decided to join battle on Tick 25 after Krayt was taken out, but due to their poor join battle roll I added 6 ticks, taking it to 31. Akea acts on 30, and has move actions from 25-30 he could use as well.))

Allanar got to the edge of the roof and surveyed the situation, Krayt was nowhere to be seen, the bridge was severed with the longer section bent at a 45 degree angle downward under its own weight. The transports had their cannons trained on Akea.

Akea had bought himself time, but he knew they were on the losing end of the battle at this point. Two Jedi weren't simply weren't equipped to counter an insurrection head-on, if nothing else, because they couldn't be everywhere at once. Noticing the transports, the Dur Sabon Jedi Master quickly began moving towards the building closest to him, hoping to move to cover. He kept his lightsaber activated and poised defensively as he moved, in the event the ships opened fire earlier than he suspected. As he strode, he switched his comlink to an encrypted frequency matched to Allanar's, and spoke into it.

"Allanar, I have failed us. This goes far deeper than I ever suspected. The man on the bridge with me is named A'Sharad Hett, a former Jedi. I will tell you of him when we reach safety. Hett is out of the picture for now, but we have not seen the last of him. There is little we can do now to stop an overthrow of the capital, but I believe Foreign Minister Binkata may be a valuable ally and source of information. We should evacuate him with us, if possible. What is your status?"

Dan 13:51, 3 October 2010 (EDT)

Allanar crossed the roof of the north building as quickly as he could, he was in full sprint towards the bridge where the duel was taking place when he heard his comlink chirp to life just before making a leap off the roof. Allanar came to a sudden halt, skidding to the very edge of the roof and crouching down while hoping to avoid any notice. Allanar peeked over the edge of the roof down at Akea crossing the bridge, he noticed that the transports were preparing to open fire on the bridge below.

"Master, I have arrived at the roof's edge of the north building overlooking the bridge you are currently on. The transports look prepared to fire on you, Renora is piloting a metrocab and is hidden on the east side of the buildings below us. If you leap from the bridge, she should be able to catch you, you can reach her through her comlink." Allanar spoke quickly as his military instincts took over and he surveyed the scene for a short moment.

"If you tell me where Binkata is I can retrieve him and you can pick us up with Renora, hopefully the troops will be distracted enough otherwise to give me some room to maneuver."

Allanar took a deep breath and started to move back from the roof's edge, giving himself enough room to make a running leap down to the bridge below. He hoped to cross the distance to the south building as quickly as possible.

--FyreFly 18:00, 3 October 2010 (EDT)

Laser fire erupted from the transports targeting the remaining section of the bridge Akea stood on. Anticipating the attack, he slithered back toward the north building. As the bridge dropped, he leapt into the north building through a window that had already been broken from earlier events.

The layout of the room Akea entered was exactly the same as the building on the opposite end. The floor seemed vacant; the only sound was the echos of the evacuation alarm.

  • Akea Dex + Athletics - 7, 8, 9, 3, 2, 3 - 3 successes
  • Akea Wits + Awareness - 9, 10, 10, 9, 9, 5 - 7 successes

The shuttles held their fire after Akea disappeared into the building. Akea took a quick peek out the window to look down below. Many of the bridges below had collapsed after the top bridge and the boulders came crashing down. But more importantly, Akea caught a glimpse of Darth Krayt as he re-entered the south building, about 30 stories below.

  • Renora Wits + Awareness - 7, 4, 4, 3, 3 - 1 success

Renora's voice came over the comm. "I'm near the ground level on the east side of the buildings. It's chaotic down here..." she said, watching streams of Chiss evacuate the building in a panic.

Allanar leapt from the north building's roof, augmenting his strength with the force to increasing his leaping distance. He flew impressively across the gap, catching the attention of the transports.

  • Allanar Force Jump - Control + Enhancement - 10, 10, 4, 2, 6, 4, (wild die reroll: 5) - 4 successes

((I put a discussion on Force Jump up in Talk:Star Wars: Force Powers, but for the purposes of this scene, with a good Force Jump roll, Allanar makes this jump.))

In what other observers saw as just a blur, Allanar covered the 45 yard gap between the top of the north building and the bridge, bent down at a 45 degree angle. He landed perfectly and used the side railing to prevent himself from sliding off the bridge. Using the rail as leverage, he began pulling himself up toward the south building's entrance.

  • Transports laser fire - 5 shots all <= 5 successes - miss

The transports rained a volley of fire down at Allanar as he climbed, but Allanar's impressive agility allowed him to dodge the laser fire. The bridge, fortunately, held, and he completed his climb to the top.

At the site of the initial airspeeder collission with the building, several special operations forces had already descended from their transports and entered the building. Their drop cords were visibly hanging from the transports, presumably awaiting their return.

Kirkland 18:28, 6 October 2010 (EDT)

Akea eyed the opening from which he'd entered the building, gazing down to the sprawling urban maw yawning beneath him, unhindered with the remainder of the bridge destroyed by transport fire. After a quick glance behind himself, he spoke into his comlink, this time adjusting the dial to match Renora's frequency.

"Renora, we need to make a hasty retreat. It is my understanding that you have procured an airspeeder. Although I could navigate my way to the roof of this building, I feel it would further endanger all three of us for me to do so, should we attempt to escape as a unit. Instead, I would propose, if possible, that you direct your speeder toward the eastern of the two largest government buildings connected by sky bridges and proceed to the level fired upon by the invading transports just prior to this transmission. At that point, watch for a falling, elongated figure... "

Akea looked over his shoulder again, still planning alternate escape routes in the event Renora was pinned down. He braced himself with one hand and leaned slightly out of the window, gauging the distance of the drop. He hoped Renora was a good pilot. A bit of his underlying, crass wit slipped into the end of his transmission.

"... That will be me. Is this maneuver feasible for you?"

Dan 03:14, 13 October 2010 (EDT)

Allanar quickly ascended up into the south building where the conflict had started, he was hoping the troops would be slow enough to react that he could quickly rescue Binkata and escape before coming into direct conflict with them. He doubted he would be so lucky. Once he finished his climb he quickly entered the building to escape from the range and vision of the transports to prevent being the target of any further artillery fire. As he slipped inside the door he quickly surveyed the scene at hand as he drew his lightsaber slowly from under his jacket. The area was filled with thick smoke from the crash and it made searching for Binkata or his enemies rather difficult.

For the moment his lightsaber remained deactivated as he took his time absorbing the details amid the chaos of the scene, he focused his mind towards the smoke obscured area in search for Binkata or any other notable presences hidden there.

Sense + Divination: 3 + 2 = 5; 2, 7, 1, 2, 7 = 2 successes.

Allanar turned his focus into the smoke, standing just outside of the thickest cloud he activated his lightsaber, holding it in a defensive position to be prepared for an attack from within the smoke. His combat instincts were too strong to rush into the blind scenario, his Jedi training told him to be patient, the Force would present an answer to his dilemma. Allanar closed his free hand into a fist before violently punching it forward and opening his palm into the cloud of smoke as he used the force to sweep the smoke clear from the hall so he could more efficiently search.

Alter + Telekinesis: 3 + 2 = 5; 7, 8, 1, 8, 5 = 3 successes.

--FyreFly 21:16, 13 October 2010 (EDT)

The invisible hand of the Force burst through the thick smoke blocking Allanar's vision. He already knew, through the Force, how many beings lay behind the smoke's veil. Six special forces operatives, in full suits of armor and protective masks, turned their attention to Allanar once the smoke cleared. Three trained their blasters on him, the other three trained their blasters on the three Chiss hostages (two male, one female) they were holding. It was clear to Allanar that more had probably already been loaded onto the transports. The identity of Binkata at this point was irrelevant, in his eyes all of these individuals were victims worth saving.

Just as the smoke cleared a Chiss emerged from one of the conference rooms; he held his hand in the air, silently ordering the soldiers to hold their fire. Allanar's senses told him that those rooms were now empty. The Chiss was dressed similarly to the Dark Jedi he recently dispatched in the Csaplarian streets. He looked less than pleased that there was a second Jedi attempting to thwart their efforts.

The Chiss spoke to Allanar in Basic, "You would be wise to disengage; you don't want any more blood on your hands." He motioned to one of the hostages. Allanar had no doubt the Chiss would have few regrets executing his hostages if it came down to it.

((If you choose to act against them, roll join battle. Chances are you will go first, message me if it's a poor roll and I can roll for them.))

"On my way," was Renora's reponse to Akea. She lifted the metrocab from its resting place and poured full power into the vertical repulsorlifts. It took some time to rise; the metrocab was anything but agile. The rocks raining from the sky had subsided, and the dust from the collapse of the skybridges had settled. She angled the nose of the cab up slightly, so she could see to some extent where she was going and to keep a look out for Akea, not entirely sure if he really was going to jump. About halfway up, she flipped some switches on the daskboard, opening the passenger doors on both sides of the cab.

((I haven't thought to much about what kind of roll this jump would require... go ahead and be creative and supply the roll and result. You can roll Renora's pilot if it's relevant to your actions. She would use a Willpower point.))

Kirkland 23:48, 25 October 2010 (EDT)

Akea spotted Renora rising through the waning chaos. The scenario was less than ideal, but he'd have to make due. With one last glance behind him, he slid to the edge of where the bridge had formerly met with the building, leaning over and bracing himself with both hands. As he prepared to jump, he closed his eyes, pondering the situation.

Akea knew he had failed - he now mused only on the cost. Any regime headed by a Sith Lord was a danger to the entire galaxy - even if Hett was to be defeated by the New Republic, how many would die in the process? Why had Hett chosen this path? The galaxy again, all too soon, seemed fated for darker times. But how had Akea failed to notice? He shook his head, drawing the force around him.

Akea concentrates for 12 seconds before making his leap, waiting for Renora to reach an appropriate altitude.

The moment had come. As the passenger doors of the metrocab slid open, Akea surrended himself to the Force - simple climatological conditions prohibited landing the jump conventionally; there was simply no way to accurately eyeball wind speed gradients across such a distance. But, if the Jedi could be reduced to a single, secular purpose, it would be just that - achieving the impossible.

And so it was that the Dur Sabon Jedi Master, a colossal serpent out of place in Csaplar from the beginning, flung himself from the blown-out cavity, lengthening out to become a relatively aerodynamic rod, plummeting through the air.

((My thinking is that Akea is doing a telekinetically-guided jump to the metrocab, so I'm adding the successes to a Dex + Ath roll to accurately jump. The rationale is that more successes means Akea can exert more control over himself - granted, he's pretty heavy, so complete control is unlikely unless the roll is stellar, but he can still "nudge" himself while falling through the air. I'm going to couple that to a pilot roll made by Renora.))

Control + Enhancement + Concentrate (2): 5, 9, 3, 8, 2, 5, 4, 7 (3 successes)
Dexterity + Athletics + Willpower: 8, 2, 8, 3 - 2 successes, + 1 willpower, + 3 telekinesis = total 6 successes

Renora spotted the falling figure, as was promised by Akea. Gritting her teeth slightly, she banked the craft sideways and continued to close the distance between them, doing her best to line the open passenger up with his trajectory. She sincerely hoped the frail metrocab could handle a full-grown Dur Sabon plummeting into at terminal velocity.

Renora - Dexterity + Pilot Starship + Willpower: 9, 1, 6 + 1 willpower = total 2 successes

((So that is what it is. Let me know if this is a fair way of handling it. I'll leave the interpretation of these numbers (basically, whether I make it or not) to the ST.))

Dan 01:43, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

Despite Akea framing the events as a failure, it could have been much, much worse. The work he and Allanar have done so far has put the Jedi Academy in a far better position to react to this dangerous threat. They had already captured two operatives. One was a Sith force user, the other was now working for them. Now the Chiss Ascendancy is in its last throes, a government that was never particularly friendly toward the New Republic anyway. The Jedi were now in a position to salvage what they could of the overthrown government, saving the lives of powerful Chiss figures who could further aid the unraveling of this mystery. With their government in shambles, they should welcome New Republic assistance in combating this threat to their very way of life. The Sith, by their nature, are surely using the Chiss race and government for their own selfish purposes, as they have exploited countless other species over thousands of years.

((BTW, this scene is awesome, only in Star Wars could I ever dream of considering the physics behind a giant serpent jumping off a building into an airspeeder, using the force as his guide.))

He would meditate over such details later, but now he focused his energy on their escape. Renora tilted the metrocab to the side. Akea coiled, increasing his surface area as he neared the craft. With a little bit of air resistance, and a lot of force power, he decelerated as he approached the cab. He impacted the cab, his weight and force dragging the cab violently toward the ground, straining the repulsorlift engines as their worked against the extra downward force. Akea's tail gripped the floor of the cab as the rest of his body fell through the door on the other side. The cab tilted 90 degrees sideways, almost flipping over. Renora jammed the flight stick in the other direction, fighting to return the cab to an upright position. Slowly, it did so. Once Renora recovered control, Akea pulled himself up onto the ship and took a deep breath.

"Good to see you, Akea." Renora said, taking a brief look back at her new passenger. "Where to?"

((Akea is now on tick 50, this will be important if interaction with Allanar occurs.))

Kirkland 20:01, 28 October 2010 (EDT)

Allanaar scanned the scene unfolding before him as he cleared the smoke away, his initial focus was on the 6 special forces operatives and their three hostage. But it became clear in a short moment that the familiarly dressed Chiss was the real problem at hand, just how many of these Sith Apprentices had been trained already?

Allanar was silent for a moment as he assessed his options in the current situation, time was short as well considering the volatile situation on the planet. He kept his lightsaber in the conservative defensive position as he spoke firmly in response to the apprentice.

"Do not speak of wisdom Sith, you would not know it if Grand Master Yoda stood before you." Allanar took a few hesitant steps forward, looking as imposing as he intended to sound. "I have no desire to have any more blood on my hands, but I'm no more inclined to turn my back on these people and let you spill their blood with my eyes closed. Give me these hostages and Minister Binkata and I'll leave you and your men alone. If you refuse I will deal with you in the same manner I dealt with those that came before you," Allanar opened his jacket with his free hand to show the two lightsabers from the Sith he defeated in the streets earlier in the day.

"You will be the fourth I've faced and the fourth I've defeated if you don't hand over the hostages... I don't think it's in your nature to be brave, not many martyrs among the Sith. Be wise and you may live to fight another day."

Allanar inched closer to the hostages though was careful not to inch close enough to set off the special forces ops on the hostages, Allanar showed no signs of fear because he felt none.

Intimidation: Charisma + Intimidate + 1 Willpower = 3: 8, 8, 1 = 3 Successes with Willpower.

(I think in OWoD you used to be able to roll Intimidation with Strength instead of Charisma to represent physical intimidation, obviously if possible I'd like to use that given the improved dice pool. But if not I'm cool with giving this a go. If The Sith is unwilling to give up the hostages and Binkata go ahead and roll join battle, Allanar is pretty unwilling to settle for less.)

Akea quickly oriented himself in the cramped metrocab, finding a metastable position coiled amongst the front and rear passenger seats. He turned his attention skyward, speaking quickly to Renora.

"I am glad to see you are safe. Time is short, but the opportunity to allay the damage caused by this insurrection still exists. If you will, direct the cab to the building opposite the one I jumped from - the one formerly connected by bridge. Allanar is in the building, and it is my hope that he has been able to secure key Chiss officials who may be able to assist the New Republic in understanding this new threat we face. Stay on your guard - upon rendezvous with Allanar, we will need to make a quick exit. Ideally, we can make it to the Leviathan and have our exit route off-planet be a surprise, but I understand that the dynamical nature of the situation."

As Renora began to tilt the craft upward, Akea tuned his comlink dial to Allanar's encrypted comlink frequency. His lightsaber, though deactivated, remained clutched in his bony grasp.

"We are approaching your position in the government building via metrocab. If you are able to respond, any information on your specific whereabouts - and the whereabouts of hostage VIPs - will be critical to an effective retreat. Furthermore, if possible, report status of enemies in the building."

((I'm not quite sure how the tick count works here, this is something we should probably straighten out.))

Dan 01:33, 2 November 2010 (EDT)

The Chiss sith scowled and looked at the array of lightsabers Allanar held. He did not want to take on Allanar alone, that was certain, though he did have three highly trained soldiers with him; but he did not want to give up the hostages either. After all, that was one reason they were going through all this trouble.

There were a few seconds of silence as the Chiss debated internally. During those seconds, Akea's communication came through his comlink.

  • Allanar Sense Danger: Sense + Divination: 1, 9, 9, 9, 5 = 2 successes

The Chiss made his decision. He ignited his lightsaber, ready for combat. Allanar sensed that he had called their bluff, the hostages were not going to be executed, at least not immediately. The soldiers guns were still trained on the hostages, so he must be careful.

  • Allanar Join Battle: Sense + Divination + Wits + Awareness + Lightning Reflexes: 4, 9, 9, 1, 4, 2, 2, 1, 1, 9, 9, 8, 8, 9, 1 = 6 successes

Tick Count

  1. Allanar Acts
  2. Soldier 1 acts (thank you wild die)
  3. Chiss sith acts
  4. Soldier 2 acts
  5. Soldier 3 acts

Renora asked quickly, "What about those shuttles?" referring to the three armed military transports hovering at the top of the building.

Kirkland 01:31, 3 November 2010 (EDT)

Akea eyed the transports as he thought - those would be a non-trivial concern. Their cannons could easily wipe out the diminutive metrocab with but a graze. He'd have to direct Allanar to an area which provided better cover. It wouldn't be easy, but there was simply no chance they'd be able to pause long enough to make a successful pickup while in range of those cannons. At that point, Akea had a few uncharacteristically rash ideas for a daring escape route, but those would have to wait - it'd take Allanar's piloting prowess to pull off the maneuvers. But that wasn't the most pressing issue - even the big-picture minded Dur Sabon had to put aside the future at this moment.

"Strafe to the adjacent side of the building before making your ascent, and kick the accelerators as hard as you can - approach the building for a dead-on collision. The targeting trajectory will become increasingly difficult to compute as we approach the side. Brake hard and come to a sidelong stop as you approach the building face, and hug it as tightly as you can. As long as we're effectively scraping the wall, those transports can't hit us from their position. Once we're in place, ascend along the side of the building to Allanar's altitude, and hover when you get there. I'll direct him in the meantime."

Akea was waiting for a response from Allanar before issuing any instructions, but that didn't stop him from wondering as he closed his eyes and reached into the Force, hoping to catch a glimpse of what the immediate future held in store for his fellow Jedi.

Sense + Divination: 3, 8, 5, 1, 8, 7, 1, 6 - 3 successes

Dan 02:13, 8 November 2010 (EST)

Allanar eyed the Chiss Sith as he made his decision, and heard his comlink chirp with Akea's message. Allanar glanced down for a moment, listening to the message simply to assure that it was not a message of distress, but instead of respond he simply turned the comlink to busy. He could not afford to be distracted when confronted with a Sith, not to mention he needed to save the hostages.

Allanar took a step forward and raised his lightsaber above his head, spreading his combat stance and angling the blade from above his head back towards the ground in an aggressive but not exposed position. He took a moment to speak, his words mostly meant for the special forces ops who held the hostages.

"A regrettable choice, however if you leave the hostages unharmed and turn them over to me when this conflict is resolved I will leave it there." Allanar was not interested in further the political conflict at hand, a few special forces ops were of no consequence in comparison to saving the hostages, he would gladly let them go in exchange for the hostages once the Sith was dispatched.

After his offer to the troops, it was down to business and Allanar immediately sprung into action against the Chiss Sith, though he was not naive enough to think that the special ops would definitely stay out of the conflict. No doubt the Sith would be willing to fight dirty if he could, Allanar hoped that he could end it before he had the chance and that by closing the space between the two the troops would be unwilling to shoot for fear of hitting the Chiss. Allanar shifted his weight back for a moment, lifting the tip of his blade slightly as he did so it was parallel to the floor, once the blade was raised he rapidly shifted forward and sprinted the distance between he and the Sith.

As he closed the gap he shifted his blade from in front of him to angled back and up, ready to strike down at his opponent. At the last moment he jumped into the air and angled his body forward, turning into a spiral that brought his blade around his body once before striking down directly at the neck of the Chiss. The attack was spectacular for a reason, it appeared more aggressive than it was and would bate the Sith into thinking Allanar had left himself vulnerable to attack while in reality he hadn't.

Allanar's Attack: Dexterity (6) + Exotic Weapon Proficiency (4) + Control (3) - Combat Expertise (4) = 9 Dice

Parry DV: (Dex (6) + Lightsaber (4) + Sense (3)/2) + Combat Expertise (2) - Action (1) = DV 8 (I rounded up on parry DV, I think that's correct?)

--FyreFly 21:53, 8 November 2010 (EST)

((I intend to write a description of the scene, but I at least wanted to get the results of the first round out since I had them, so you can start thinking about what you'll do next. You are correct on your Parry DV.))

  • Allanar's Attack: Dexterity (6) + Exotic Weapon Proficiency (4) + Control (3) - Combat Expertise (4) = 9 Dice
    • 8, 1, 1, 2, 3, 9, 3, 3, 3 - 2 successes - parried
  • Solder 1 Blaster shot: deflected toward Chiss with Advanced Lightsaber Deflection (Dice pool 9)
    • 6, 2, 2, 2, 9, 7, 7, 7, 8 - 5 successes - parried
  • Solder 2 Blaster shot: deflected toward Chiss, dodged
  • Solder 3 Blaster shot (Allanar acts this tick, but I resolved his action first anyway): deflected toward Chiss, parried
  • Chiss Lightsaber Attack: parried
  • Note: I didn't give the Chiss an onslaught penalty, since these extra attacks aren't affecting your dice pools or DV either. I don't know if this is the best way to handle this, but it's the fastest way right now.
  • Note: Soldiers have 50% cover (+2 DV) for hostages as shields

The first five seconds of combat between the two force users was a blur of swirling lightsaber blades and bouncing blaster shots. No sooner had Allanar's attack been parried and his feet hit the floor when his blade reacted on instinct alone to deflect the first solider's blast back towards his enemy. The Chiss's reactions were just as quick as he knocked aside Allanar's attack and the shot with a single motion, transitioning quickly into an aggressive strike at Allanar's body. Allanar was able to block it aside as he spun the blade to his side in two consecutive rotations that knocked aside two more blaster bolts and sent them back towards the Sith. The Chiss ducked the first as he retreated a step and knocked aside the third blaster bolt with a defensive twirl of his blade as Allanar immediately closed the space the Chiss had created as he moved in to attack.

Allanar transitioned to a slightly more aggressive approach though was careful not to leave himself too exposed as he was very aware of the presence of soldiers. He had hoped to negate their presence by staying closely engaged with the Sith, but they seemed unconcerned by the risk of hitting their apparent commander. He also needed to weigh the effects of letting this battle drag on too long. Allanar utilized his study of Strong Style to switch into a deadly offensive attack, taking his blade from a low position and dragging it upward as if to vertically split the Sith. The powerful stike was deadly in its own right, but would also knock aside the Sith's defenses for his second strike. As the blade peaked at the top of his first attack he turned his wrists and brought the blade down and across the Chiss's chest line.

Allanar's Attack 1: Dexterity (6) + Exotic Weapon Proficiency (4) + Control (3) - 2 = 2, 6, 3, 8, 8, 1, 1, 2, 8, 1, 10. 5 successes.

Allanar's Attack 2: Dexterity (6) + Exotic Weapon Proficiency (4) + Control (3) - 3 = 3, 2, 6, 9, 1, 9, 3, 7, 9, 3. 4 successes.

Parry DV: (Dex (6) + Lightsaber (4) + Sense (3)/2) - Action (2) = DV 5

--FyreFly 19:57, 12 November 2010 (EST)

  • Allanar's attack damage:
    • Attack #1: 7, 4, 4, 2, 4, 5, 0 - 3 lethal damage
    • Attack #2: 7, 3, 9, 8, 5, 1, 8 - 4 lethal damage

Allanar's attacks struck the Chiss just as he intended. The tip of his lightsaber caught the sith's chest as he brought the blade up vertically. Paralyzed from the first strike, he was unprepared for Allanar's second attack, the lightsaber cutting a deep wound horizontally across his chest. He dropped his lightsaber and clutched his chest in agony as he dropped to his knees, gasping for air. He collapsed to the ground as Allanar deflected two more laser shots away with his lightsaber, turning his attention to the three troops that remained.

(Allanar Danger Sense roll)

Soldier 3 put the barrel of his rifle back to the head of his male hostage. Allanar sensed that if he made any aggressive move, that soldier was going to pull the trigger.

There was a second problem. Darth Krayt's ominous presence could still be felt. Allanar knew he did not have much time.

Allanar took a step back from the fallen Sith as he turned his attention towards the three soldiers and their hostages, his eyes narrowing as the soldier pressed the barrel of his gun to the head of the hostage. Allanar remained calm and suppressed the adrenaline flowing through his body as a result of the high paced combat with the fallen Chiss.

"My offer still stands, if you leave the three hostages I will leave you be. You would be free to go, without consequence. However, if you harm any of them, or do not turn them over to me you will regret it." Allanar paused for a moment, sensing the impending danger if Darth Krayt's approach he hoped that the soldiers were unaware of his presence. "I don't plan to wait for your reinforcements, make your decision quickly."

Allanar shifted his lightsaber into a clearly defensive stance, ready to protect himself from any further blaster fire while making no aggressive moves to set of the soldiers. He delayed his action for a short moment, giving the soldiers time to respond and hoped that they understood basic.

((Sorry for the delay on this, I sort of forgot about it for awhile. Basically, my revised idea is that I want Renora to try to fly under one of the bridges, directly under the transports to maximize cover, then make a break for the corner of the building, go around it, and hug the building for cover, ending up in a spot roughly across from where the hole was originally blown.))

Renora Piloting - 2 successes

Renora executed the maneuver precisely as Akea requested, flying the metrocab under the enemy transports and swinging the ship around the side of the south building. Akea looked up out the side door window, keeping a careful eye on the transports.

Akea, Renora Wits+Awareness rolls hidden

Just as the ship began to clear the corner of the building, he saw one transport break from its stationary position. He didn't need the Force to tell him that they had been spotted. (Sense+Divination roll hidden) And he didn't need the force to know that a metrocab with an inexperienced pilot was no match for a military transport.

Inside the building, Allanar's second attempt at negotiating the release of the hostages was much more convincing. His dispatching of the Sith warrior was a convincing enough to the soldiers.

Allanar Negotiation - 3 successes

They let go of their hostages and began backing away to the window, slowly, guns still trained on Allanar. Unless Allanar chooses to intervene, they proceed to connect their harness to skyhooks attached to their transports.

Allanar had just enough time to issue orders to the newly freed hostages before, in the distance, a turbolift door tumbled across the lobby area, propelled by the Force. From where they were standing he did not have a full view into the atrium but could only assume that Darth Krayt was just around the corner had just arrived at his desired floor.

((Allanar is about 35 meters from the Atrium, see map. Sorry this took so long, Shadowrun kind of took over my mind for a few weeks. I think I can settle back into a regular posting rhythm now that SR is off the ground.))

Akea, realizing his plan was doomed to failure, had to consider more drastic options. He looked to Renora, noting the transport hot on their tail. He searched the reaches of his mind for strategic maneuvers - unfortunately, this was one area of knowledge where the mentally affluent Akea found himself a bit wanting for knowledge. Nevertheless, the Jedi Master was keen enough to realize the folly in not learning from one's opponents - why not fly the ship through the building? They couldn't afford to wait for Allanar to fight his way out - they'd have to go in and get him.

"Renora, you have trust me. Orient the ship with the nearest office window on Allanar's floor, and accelerate. We're surrounded on all sides, and the situation is only growing worse. The plan is to fly the ship into the building for cover, pick up Allanar and any important hostages, and then fly out the hole made from the original crash. We'll handle the issue of seating space as we come to it - Allanar and myself can ride outside if need be. We'll have to improvise the escape route when we can see the situation on the other side of the building."

After a moment of silence, Renora nodded gravely, and the metrocab began speeding up. Knowing the frail public transport wouldn't fare well against the building's reinforced windows, Akea focused his mind, thrusting the Force toward the incoming window, hoping to shatter or weaken it.

Force Push (Alter + Telekinesis + WP): 2,2,6,8,1,9 + 1 = 3 successes

Akea considered telling Allanar, but had a sneaking suspicion he'd hear the commotion.

((Let me know if this is a senseless maneuver. For the moment, this is what I'm going with.))

Allanar watched as the soldiers made their hesitant exit from the scene, Allanar made no aggressive moves to pursue them but did slowly draw closer to the hostages with his lightsaber still active. Once the soldiers disappeared from view he made his moves quickly, he knew they were very far from safety. He outstretched a hand behind his back and called upon the force to draw his fallen opponents lightsaber to his hand, tucking it within the inside of his coat as he spoke with urgency to the hostages now under his protection.

"Listen carefully and do as I ask, we're not out of danger yet. My name is Allanar Onsai, I am a Jedi Knight with The New Jedi Order." Allanar paused for a moment as the force alerted him that Darth Krayt was returning and looked back to the hostages, "Quickly into these rooms and out of sight."

Allanar moved into the doorway of one of the side rooms so the door opened and ushered the three hostages into the room and out of the still somewhat smoky corridor. As he stepped in and let the door seal behind him he lifted the comlink to his lips and spoke quietly.

"Master Akea, I have secured three hostages and we are in the south rooms of the south building. The apprentice is out of the way, but I feel danger is still upon us."

Allanar looked down at the command console for the doors entering the rooms and punched in a series of commands to lock the doors to the room. After that he turned back around and looked out the bank of windows lining the south wall of the building and saw the impending arrival of Akea's ship even before Akea's response.

Allanar looked at the oncoming ship, then back at the three hostages. The panes of glass began to creak as cracks began to appear across certain sections. Allanar barked orders quickly. "Against the wall, quickly." They complied as Allanar moved the large oak table from the middle of the room toward the hostages and angled the table to face the wall of glass. It shattered moments later, and the silent room was soon filled with a whipping wind and the whirring of repulsorlift engines. Renora could be seen in the pilot's seat, guiding the metrocab into the room carefully.

Renora piloting - 10, 9, 3 - extra roll 3 - 3 successes

The cab came to a halt and the doors opened. The displays above the door scrolled a message in the Cheunh language, emitting humor only the Chiss in the room could appreciate. It was scrolling the name of the building they were in as the current stop. The side doors slid open to reveal Akea, who motioned for the hostages to come aboard. He recognized Minister Binkata as one of them.

((I'm not sure where to take the post from here -- Akea's original plan was to fly through the building but Allanar has locked Darth Krayt out of the conference room for now. You've got a transport following you back the way you came. Sticky situation indeed.))

Akea knew that the metrocab wasn't going to stand up to an attack from an armed military transport. On the other hand, it would also be devastating to be forced to engage Darth Krayt again - Akea knew he'd gotten lucky in their earlier encounter, and although he had Allanar with him this time, they also had a ship full of hostages to worry about. Their efforts would be in vain if Krayt exacted his wrath on them instead of the two Jedi.

Still, with both choices presenting significant risks, Akea was forced to consider the lesser of two evils. If they went through the door and out the other side of the building, they could stay low and likely get enough of a head start on the transports to make an escape. All they had to do was clear the distance between the door and the original crash hole without too much interference from Krayt. Akea thought that between the two of them, they should be able to arrange that. As Allanar, behind the hostages, ran up the ship's entrance ramp, Akea rested a hand on his shoulder and spoke urgently.

"It is good to see you unharmed, Allanar. We must act quickly. My best guess is that our safest route of departure is still through these doors and out the hole left by the original crash. Military transports await us the way we came, and this little ship cannot stand up to their ordinance. I feel Krayt's presence, and I know he will attempt to halt our escape if we emerge. I think you and I can adequately distract him with a combined barrage of martial and mental pressure such that Renora can get the ship out before Krayt can stop us. That said, my instincts in these situations are not as well-honed as I would like. What are your thoughts on this matter?"

Dan 12:14, 17 January 2011 (EST)

Allanar was glad to be reunited with Akea and Renora, though crashing the metrocab through the building was not exactly how he envisioned their reunion. Regardless he could not be glad for long, though reunited their situation had hardly improved and the hostages were no safer than before, they had to act quickly. Allanar half boarded the vessel on the entrance ramp as Akea rested his hand on his shoulder and explained the situation, Allanar stood aboard the vessel but grasped the entrance as he still hung outside the ship.

"You're right, we have a better chance with Krayt than this cab does with those military transports."

Allanar quickly shifted his glance towards the broken windows the cab had just crashed through, no doubt the transports would be following along in a matter of time. He next looked over to the looked door where Krayt had no doubt begun to put together what had happend, though he could take comfort in the fact he almost certainly was no expecting a ship to fly through the building.

"I have a plan, I'm not sure you'll like it Master." Allanar spoke with a playful smirk as he took the short hop off the ship and back to the floor of the building, as he did he was quickly unraveling the rope tucked into his jacket.

Akea was familiar enough with Allanar's plans in these types of missions to know what that meant, not necessarily that the plan wouldn't work but it might be more bold than most plans hatched by Jedi. But situations such as this called for bold plans, without a doubt that is what he would get. Allanar was tying the rope he had just unraveled around his body into a rudimentary harness, giving it a good tug once he was finished he seemed satisfied with its security and he tossed the remainder of the rope up to Akea.

"Tie your end to the ship." Allanar paused a moment to wipe the smirk off his face as Akea gave him a knowing look, starting to put together where this plan was going. "I'll be infront of the ship on foot, open the door and engage Krayt to give you and Renora enough time to fly through the corridor and out the other side. As you accelerate into clear skies and away from the building the slack on the rope will catch and drag me out of the building behind you... Leaving Krayt with no way of chasing after us. Then I'll just climb onto the ship as we make our escape and we're home free." Allanar finished the plan with a casual shrug, as if nothing could go wrong.

Allanar drew his lightsaber from within his coat, leaving it unignited for the moment and giving Akea a moment to respond or object before moving over towards the door to get in position to unlock and open it for the ship's escape.
