Background

Thanatos and Libitina are a brother and sister pairing who inherited a great deal of wealth and land in the city of Sijan. They are an odd pairing and considered both eccentric and spoiled, though behind their backs most of The Mortician's Order respects and perhaps fears their creative and ambitious power. Libitina is the creative mind behind their operation, she is considered one of The Funerists' Observatories foremost masters of ceremony and Lucid Moonlight, the Observatories leader, has his eye on her to elevate her into his personal aid rather soon. Thanatos on the other hand is considered to be the brains and cold ambition of their operation, with a shrewd business sense and practical engineering mind who manages the finances of their estate. He is a respected member of The Mortwright Observatory, though he cares far less for the rituals of the dead than his more inspired sister.

Its not exactly clear when their family became tied with The Hallowed Order of The Grass Spiders, the relationship certainly predates both brother and sister, and if you ask any of the members it predates even Rizuka and Iron Shatters Oak. Until recently the relationship was mostly managed through the Three Fiends, though with the addition of Ryn to The Grass Spider's ranks created another tie as the two parties were acquainted during Ryn's time in Sijan. Libitina has recently begun to pour some of her creative mind into the custom ritual of The Grass Spiders seeking to add a new flavor to the now ancient burial rite.
