Midnight's Grandest Eve
Although one of his faces remained glum, the beautiful, angelic visage of the Mask of Winters grinned with delight. Many thousands of zombies and war ghosts swam in oceans of putrescent flesh around hulking, half-living, half-necrotechnological war machines. The hulking Juggernaut crept along behind the force, each step shaking the condemned dirt of both worlds with terrifying force.
To the Deathlord's right stood his herald, the Wink of the Storm's Eye. Better known as Typhon, the death of Seven Seasons Widow left him at the head of the Mask of Winters's massive espionage operation, arguably making him the highest ranking deathknight in Thorns's regime. To his left stood the Maiden of the Mirthless Smile. Trained as a killing machine even in her mortal life, she was the general of the Scavenger Lands field force, the same one that took Thorns. Behind stood Prince Resplendent in the Ruin of Ages, supreme commander of the Mask of Winters's military efforts. He was often caught up with Underworld affairs; the Maiden handled most Creation-based combat. The Abbott of Hunger and Dust stood to their left, caught up in quiet meditation.
