Episode VI: Sith Spelunking
The crew of The Kraken's Kiss is still on Krant, recovering from the bold rescue of Dr Borsk from the Imperial Garrison, with the local rebels providing some medical and mechanical assistance to the crew. A few days into their stay a group from the Rebel Alliance arrives on a personnel carrier, led by an Ithorian, Jania Dahn. The crew blends in with the locals while discerning the reason for the Rebel's appearance. Jania speaks with Dr. Borsk and explains that they know why he was captured by the Empire. Jania tells Borsk that the Imperials have sent an apprentice of The Emperor to explore the long lost ancient Jedi temples on Krant. The temples are thought to be unaccessible, which was the reason they sought to use Dr. Borsk as a guide for the apprentice, the Rebels are here to stop them. Making matters even more grave, the Rebels believe that one of the temples is not a Jedi Temple, but a prison for a powerful Sith spirit.
Jania asks for Dr. Borsk's help, having just escaped with his life Borsk agrees to help only if the crew of The Kraken's Kiss accompanies them, trusting them more than the rebels. The crew agrees, but only if the rebels will pay up. Jania agrees to pay each member 5,000 credits once they return. With the agreement made, the group packs into the Rebels personnel carrier and heads into the forest towards the lost Jedi Temple; the total group being Jania and her 5 rebel soldiers, Dr. Borsk, and the crew of The Kraken's Kiss.
A day and a half of travel into the forest the group leaves the truck behind to approach the temple with more caution and stealth, as nightfall approaches the group decides to perform a bit of scouting before making camp. Malloc, Baric, and Gand discover an abandoned camp, but can't find much more, shortly after they are called by the rebels to meet on the north side of the temple. As the group nears the temple as stealthily as possible, they are ambushed by a group of Storm Troopers from up the Temple steps. A short gunfight ensues, with the rebels joining forces with the crew they quickly overpower the Troopers. Given that stealth is no longer an option they decide to start their exploration of the Temple immediately, especially since all signs point to the apprentice being inside already.
They enter a massive opening, with no knowledge how it was opened after Borsk tells the group that it had been previously shut forever. They don't find much immediately, an empty hall that leads to a tall, square shaft that leads both to the top and bottom of the Temple. With no way to explore the various floors other than by climbing up and down a rope, the group finally decides to begin the climbing adventures. Going up first they discover that the top floor of the temple is a room with an alter and lightsaber set on a pressure plate, which Borsk describes is likely a key to controlling the Sith spirit in the temple, but is undoubtedly guarded by gravely dangerous traps. The group decides not to risk it so early and head down into the Temple.
The climb down turns out to be a bit more perilous, as one of the rebel soldiers ends up falling down the shaft to his death making it that much more nerve wracking for the rest of them. When they reach the 1st floor they find four stone tombs with ancient stories describing the evil deeds of the entombed. No doubt the powerful and evil apprentices of the Sith Lord imprisoned here. With only one place left, the group is forced to climb down a stone ladder multiple stories into the dark underbelly of the Temple. Finally at the bottom they find a series of locked doors to explore.
Through the 1st door Malloc is attacked by a pack of giant rats, the group guns down quickly but gives up all hopes of stealth. Through the 2nd door, Baric discovers a prison where the workers who built the Temple were imprisoned for life. Through the 3rd door the room is full of ancient security droids, though deacctivated they spring to life when they sense the group. Getting the jump on the old droids they quickly destroy them, Malloc attempts to access their memory but is unable. Instead he takes the head of one of the robots with him so he can attempt to access it later. The 4th door reveals a gold chest and a mediation chamber, once again this chest is highly trapped. The group leaves it and tries the last door.
The last door reveals a set of stairs, leading further yet into the bowels of the Temple, where they group finds a large closed door with no obvious way to open it. The group is unable to open it until Borsk points out that the door will only open for a force user, out of luck the group contemplates giving up until Malloc reveals that he would like to try. Malloc mediates in front of the door and to most of the groups surprise the door opens and reveals a large chamber inside with a single black cloaked figure. The figure rushed the group, activating a red lightsaber as he does, but there is simply too much blaster fire to overcome and the apprentice is gunned down before he can inflict any serious damage. Successful in thwarting the Empire the group heads out. Malloc insists on trying to open the chest and triggers a trap that drops him into a pit that would have been inhabited by a rancor if the Temple was not 10,000 years old. Relatively safe the group opens the chest and finds a strange crystal with red swirling energy inside, somehow Gand explains that the crystal contains a heretic of the mist. A powerful dark Jedi, who the group can assume is the imprisoned Sith Lord.
Deciding to dare no more the the Temples traps they make their way out, safely returning to the forest and the short drive back to the local rebels and the crew's ship.
