Background
Cathak Baisotei is the eldest child of a marriage between Cathak Iron Rose, a dragon-lord serving in an imperial legion stationed near Arjuf, and a mortal from House V'neef who captains a small independent merchant vessel, V'neef Unconquered Tsunami. The two met at a dragon-blooded social event in Arjuf after both of their careers were well underway, despite Tsunami's extended trips away from The Blessed Isle they spent what time they could together eventually falling in love and convincing their respective families to agree to a marriage. Despite being between two Great Houses the marriage was never used to sanctify any type of alliance, perhaps this was because Cathak felt it was getting a bad deal because Tsunami was a mortal. This worked out rather well for their children however as it meant that the Great Houses mostly refrained from greatly interfering with their lives, along with Iron Rose's stationary position it allowed Baisotei's parents to have an unusually, but pleasantly close relationship with him.
Baisotei has two younger brothers at the ages of 12 and 4 years old, neither has exalted yet but both are still young and the family has high hopes for both young boys. Baisotei remained close with his family during his years at The Spiral Academy often returning home as much as possible, but during his senior year at the academy he met a young, powerful exalt named Cathak Rufus. Rufus took a liking to the boy and offered to help him launch his political career if he came to work for him after graduation, Rufus convinced Baisotei to come to the Imperial City with him and proceeded to make Baisotei one of the youngest advisers to The Deliberative ever.
For Baisotei's part he is relatively confused by Rufus' interest in his success, he is not of particularly high standing or breeding and graduated respectably in the middle of his class, but was never projected to have a soaring career in politics. He has proven himself a capable bureaucrat and works especially hard to please his employer and mentor, he is learning quickly and Rufus seems to respect his opinion greatly despite his relative lack of political experience. Baisotei enjoys his new found success in the Imperial City and has embraced his role, never intending to follow the path Rufus has into the Great Chamber he recognizes he is gaining valuable experience he would otherwise had to wait years to gain.
