Background

The Loegaire family has lived in Nairn for as long as any of the other families, and for as long as any one can remember, the Loegaire family has been touched by the Forest of Eternal Night. Every other generation or so, one of the Loegaire family members will be born pale skinned and with either white or very dark hair. For the most part, they will be healthy, but the will have a strange aversion to metal. These individuals often go on to become great warriors or Lillium priest/priestesses. As a result, the family has had an uncomfortable, but not bad, relationship with the village. Generally the other families do not want to be close to them, and they have a hard time finding someone to marry, but at the same time, they are not mean and still regard them as full village members.

The truth of the Loegaire family is that one of their members is born a Duk'Zarist Nephilim every other generation or so. Over time, the family has pieced some things together from the dreams of past lives and experiences. There is a oral history that is passed down from one Duk'Zarist incarnation to the next, but the fully human members are never included in this history. The most recent member of this lineage is Caerwyn Loegaire, and the one before was his Grandmother. Cearwyn's Grandmother was a Lillium Priestess and a magic user. She used her cover as a priestess to use some basic magic in the open, but kept most of what she could do hidden.

She died when Caerwyn was only 8, so she was only able to tell him so much information. He had not even developed his psychic powers yet. He understands that he is the ancestor of some kind of dark elf and that it runs in his family. He understands that they have mystic powers and that he has to be very careful with who knows and how much. Beyond that, she was able to teach him little.

Caerwyn lives with his father, his younger brother, and his younger sister. His mother died while giving birth to his little sister. His father's parents are both dead, and his mother's parents broke contact with her when she married Caerwyn's father. The Loegaire family home is near the outskirt's of town. They primarily raise goats to get by (selling the milk, meat, and leather when they need another villager's services), but they also grow a garden, hunt, fish, and do whatever else to get by.

Caerwyn has always been a quiet kid. He tends to either stay back and watch or act. He isn't one too spend to much time mulling things over in his brain or discussing. His whole life his father has trained him to fight with a spear. He uses it when he has to defend their goats from a wolf, when he hunts, and when his family helps protect the village. He only discovered his powers over fire a few years ago and has been very careful when exploring them. He has no true friends amongst his peers in the village, but gets along with them well enough when they do interact.
