Background
Caedmon Deimhinn-Geilt was born and raised in Dodecapolis, the capital city of the Givin homeworld Yag'Dhul. He came from a very poor district of Dodecapolis; his family had very little money and could not make ends meet. He grew up with a poor public education. His childhood home was riddled with crime and poverty and he quickly learned the ways of the street.
Caedmon's father was a military man with the local militia, and that naturally grew on Caedmon as an interesting profession. He would be gone for months at a time during Caedmon's childhood and always come back with stories full of action and glory. Caedmon didn't know it at the time, but the stories were usually very exaggerated, but nevertheless it had piqued Caedmon's interest.
He began living on his own at an early age, primarily because his parents could no longer afford to support him. He found a maintenance job at the Dodecapolis Starport doing menial tasks such as moving equipment. The pay helped him get on his feet and move closer to the city core.
He began to tinker with droids and computer equipment during his spare time at the starport. Givin had a natural aptitude toward mathematics and technical tasks were always somewhat second nature to Caedmon. The starport would always be throwing out old systems or parts that Caedmon could tinker with. After a few years, Caedmon had taught himself enough to land a low-level technical job at the starport maintaining docking bay computer systems.
Caedmon was enjoying his corporate lifestyle of doing technical work and learning. But after several years at the starport he realized his job was a dead-end. He longed for something more exciting with more room to move up. He didn't want to be maintaining computer systems all his life. He applied to several jobs that he was under qualified for. After almost a year of searching, he finally found of a job designing computer security systems for starships. Certainly much more interesting than his current gig, and the pay was better too.
Even as he started to work his new job, there was that itch of adventure that was burning in the back of the Givin's mind. He enjoyed putting his mathematical and technical talents to use, but he still longed for something more exciting. He begrudgingly worked his job for several years, picking up new knowledge about starship engineering and security system design.
Caedmon Deimhinn-Geilt was inspired by his father's service in the militia years ago. With Yag'Dhul being a member of the New Republic now, the environment was very different than the one his father grew up in. There were many opportunities for Givin in the New Republic military, and Caedmon began to explore those opportunities.
After serving a faithful five years with the security firm, Deimhinn-Geilt decided that it was time to make the move and serve the New Republic. He enlisted in the New Republic Army, where he was shipped off to train with other new recruits in the core worlds. Here, he learned a wide variety of combat skills and he was enjoying every bit of it.
His personality was somewhat uninviting, but that did not hinder his ability to work with others. He was a valued member of his Army group and his technical skills were praised by his superiors. His time with the Army got him into peak physical condition. He stood out, not just because he was a very distinct alien species, but his combat and technical skills excelled among the ranks.
The Army was great, but after a year Caedmon decided it wasn't enough. He felt he deserved a shot at the 1st regiment of the New Republic Special Forces. Naturally, Givin made excellent SpaceOps troops due to their natural ability to survive in a vacuum. Also, Caedmon's background in capital ship security systems made him an excellent candidate for the job.
Physical Description
Caedmon's exterior, like most Givin, was a pale white color. The Givin's skin is an hard exoskeleton with the ability to fully seal itself from a vacuum for an extended period of time. His face has deep, sunken black eyes. He is skeletal in appearance and his facial features are unmoving. His mouth was a straight opening, with slight curves downwards on the edge.
Typically, he is clothed from neck to toe, exposing as little of his exoskeleton as possible. His head was slightly larger than that of a human and completely bald. The top and back of his head had a bony texture, with small naturally shaped features on the side and back.
Personality
Caedmon is somewhat of a loner, with poor social skills and a general disinterest in friendship or conversation. Despite this, he is a good team player. While he may not be interested in friendship, he is an honorable man and respects those he works with. He places a very high value on honesty and trust among his peers. He is very reliable and responsible. When given a task, Caedmon will approach it with true determination.
Caedmon is fascinated with puzzles, riddles, tricks, or other challenging tasks, particularly mathematical ones. Like most Givin, he was raised in the language of math. His mind is very mathematically oriented. For example, when trying to predict what someone's next move will be, he will be evaluating probabilities in his mind. For fun, he likes to leave little puzzles for others or speak in riddles. His mathematical prowess makes him a skillful gambler, and he enjoys a good wager.
In summary: Loner, quiet, calm, calculating, determined, reliable, technically-focused.
