Background

Palpatine missed his chance. 5 years after the Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Dark Lord of the Sith, an Omwati scholar, wise in the ways of the Force, though no Jedi, traveled to Korriban, hoping as so many before her to study the Dark Side of the Force without succumbing to its temptation. But her experience was unique, even among those unfortunate souls misguided enough to make the damned pilgrimage to Korriban. The Omwati woman spoke nothing of her excursion upon returning to Omwat, but rumors abounded when she was discovered to be carrying a child shortly thereafter.

Arlyn Nadir was born that year, with no father to speak of. Her mother refused to look at, or even hold her, and Arlyn's mother brutally took her own life weeks after her birth. She was entrusted to the care of her mother's brother, who had made a fortune privatizing engineering research and contracting brilliant Omwati scientists out to various interested parties across the galaxy - often crimelords. It followed naturally then, that Arlyn grew up in the company of less-than-reputable individuals, her uncle among them. Even her uncle, however, was disturbed by her development.
