Aerie Peak
Aerie Peak is the second largest city in this region, to the city of Nathir, and his home to nearly ten thousand people. When the city first originated it was built upon dry land, but over time the water of the Kurosawa River saturated the ground and a swamp as enveloped Aerie Peak and the surrounding land. The people of Aerie Peak were resilient and the learned to build structures that could stand in the unstable river bottom, or built large platforms that floated securely upon the muddy waters. Aerie Peak is a town where boat travel is as common as walking, many streets are entirely water and the only way to traverse them is a small boat, while other buildings are only accessible when atop the large wooden platforms many structures have been built upon. There is a formal port of Aerie Peak but only larger ships use it, small boats are allowed to move through the shallow waterways that run through the town until they reach their destination.
Aerie Peak has a delicate economic structure as its location allows for it to produce very little of its own food, fishing is common but few fish swim the murky waters of the swamp. Many people make their profession fishing the nearby rivers and returning to Aerie Peak to sell back their catches. Despite this Aerie Peak is not considered a fishing town, it is a military town. The standing military presence is noticeable upon arrival into the city and their navy, while mostly smaller ships, is unmatched in the area. This strong military presence allows them to offer protection to the villages along the Kurosawa River as well as the agriculture center of Duskwood, who in turn provide much of the needed food for the city of Aerie Peak. This delicate balance is maintained by a standing government within the town of Aerie Peak, each village under protection sends a resident to permanently represent their village in Aerie Peak. These ambassadors handle all negotiations, which are for the most part quite reasonable for all party's involved; if major disagreements arise the patron of the Kurosawa river is called to settle the dispute. This mysterious woman wanders the nearby area and while she often leaves for extended periods she always seems to arrive before situations grow out of control; the people of Aerie Peak and its surrounding villages claim this woman is responsible for setting up the delicate balance that has allowed the towns to prosper thus far and many pray for her to bring them good fortune.
