Basic Info

Name: Ferem Haraku
Player: NPC
Aspect: Fire
Concept: Defender of Frostgate
Motivation: Defend the people of Creation while those with more ambition and power restore the glories of the First Age.
Political Affiliation: Government of New Covenant
Anima: Two whips of flame extend from Haraku's lower back and arc around his front side, crossing in the shape of an 'X' -- As his anima continues to grow, more whips form, and their arcs become larger and less patterned.

Overworld

After the devastation of the Tepet Legions, Covenant was left largely undefended. Dawendae, not wanting to risk capture of his largest city, hired a mercenary guard from Cherak (the only other Dragon-Blooded establishment in the region to be trusted). The captain of said force is Ferem Haraku.

Haraku is the child of powerful Air and Fire aspected parents. Though his Dragon-Blooded Exaltation was in a swath of flame, the fires of his anima have bleached his hair and skin stark white, perhaps a tribute to the powerful Air-aspected patronage of his mother.

Haraku has never much cared for the way the world works, and does not presume to understand it. He has honed his skills in combat and military leadership to the finest, and hopes for no more than this. He is content being the instrument of his lord's goals, and would be satisfied to see them achieved before moving to his next task. To those who would ask of his other ambitions, he would reply that to assume a purpose in life greater than oneself treads on the arrogance of the Anathema (Haraku is a fierce Immaculate, though moreso in the sense of Lookshy than the Blessed Isle).

Haraku, however, is a good man. He does not take well to abuse of power (though he will abide it, as his loyalty to his master supersedes all others), and genuinely looks out for the good of the people of Covenant. Though Dawendae deems it a waste of resources and formally discourages it, Haraku will often instruct his men to carry out basic public service projects under the cover of the night that Dawendae refuses to channel funds into (road repair, city upkeep, etc.). Haraku and any of his men would gladly give their lives in the line of duty before seeing a citizen of Covenant come to harm. He tends to punish criminals severely, usually locking them outside of the city walls or killing them outright -- With people already competing for food and resources, Haraku sees no reason to allow those who would not abide by the rules to remain in the game. Since his appointment, crime has dropped in Covenant, though it has by no means vanished.

Haraku does not like the Anathema, though he has privately pondered if there is more to their existence than the brutal and fatalistic killing sprees described in Immaculate legend.

Recent Developments

After revolution swept Covenant, resulting in the deposing of Realm rule and the death of the tyrannical Satrap and his affiliates, Haraku underwent a motivation change. He no longer serves any master with undying loyalty. Instead, Haraku was awakened to the glories that may be attained if the Celestial Exalted are allowed to work in positive directions. He was also made aware, however, of just how terrible it can be when their ambitions go astray - the worst Celestial Exalt is far, far more dangerous than even the most tyrannical of Dynasts.

As such, Haraku is now devoted to keeping the people of Creation safe and seeing to it that Celestial Exalted are not corrupted by their newfound power, and that they instead work to better Creation. Haraku knows that in the long run, he lacks the power and insight necessary to truly reshape Creation, but believes the Celestial Exalted, with the right checks and balances, are quite capable of doing so. He devotes himself to this cause, serving as a mediator for their tremendous power and a defender of the people he hopes they will never forget. He plans to start with Frostgate.
