Background & History

The Terrestrial Lions are an independent and politically removed organization of individuals who seek to bring a sense of justice and order to all within the Scavenger Lands. They function like a free roaming group of traveling monks or the magistrates of the realm. Created by a young Dragon-Blood, Arellious Kalar, with the help of a few others it looks to be a growing and influential player within the Scavenger Lands and Creation. Information on the formation and goals of The Terrestrial Lions can be found below and within The Hard Part.

Structure

The order of command and breakdown of how The Terrestrial Lions function and carry out their work.

  • Arellious is the creator and leader of The Terrestrial Lions.
  • Sarefine is the co-creator and second in command of the Terrestrial Lions. She is the head recruiter and helps Arellious when speaking with official governments.
  • Prides - A group of 10 Terrestrial Lions that work within a specific, designated region and work together to enforce that territory. Typically each Pride has a HQ within its territory and possibly other safe houses and hideouts for its members to use, typically these are open to other Terrestrial Lions should they need them. A Pride is lead by an Alpha.
  • Within Prides the members typically patrol and work in pairs, almost always in the same working pair for an extended period of time. Most small matters can be settled by a single pair of Terrestrial Lions, when larger issues arise an entire Pride can attend to a single issue, and in rare cases extremely large issues could cause the Alpha to request help from another Pride or even the entire organization.

The Crest

The crest of The Terrestrial Lions is pictured here, each member carries a specially crafted jade version of this as their identification as a member. These crests are specially crafted and highly valued among members and care is taken to ensure they never fall into hands of any outside the organization. Each crest is made of exactly 1 pound of pure white jade, making it especially resilient and resistant to wear, and bears the full title of the member it is given to engraved on the back. This alone makes it a unique and rare sight, not easily imitated but it goes further than that. Each crest is imbued by The Ritual of Elemental Empowerment with a special aspect of fire which gives it two unique qualities. The first allows the bearer to spend a mote of essence to cause the crest to grow warm as a unique effect, the second is that the crest can be cast into fire and when removed it will still be cool to the touch.

The Code to Follow

The Terrestrial Lions code is not always as well defined as Arellious would like it to be, there is no list of commandments posted on the wall. It is simply an ideal that all its members must devote themselves too, showing this devotion is the most critical trait to show before being allowed to gain membership. Arellious is willing to compromise on the talents and skills of his members, however adherence to their founding ideals can never be compromised. So far no one has left or been removed from the organization, though membership is intended to be for life. The only stated reason a member would be removed would be for compromising these founding ideals.

The Terrestrial Lions are an independent organization that follows only its own code and moral compass with no outside influence, though the overall stability and well being of the region should be considered before taking any drastic action. They are not in the business of starting wars or village rivalries simply to make a moral point. Terrestrial Lions will always do what is right for the people and seek to spread equal justice and freedom to all citizens of The Scavenger Lands.

Material possessions are not banned, but are somewhat discouraged and Terrestrial Lions that seem to be accumulating wealth will certainly be watched closely. The Terrestrial Lions do not accept payment for their services from individuals or from governments and large organizations, this makes the accumulation of wealth all the more suspicious if it were to occur.

The Terrestrial Lions typically avoid making broad judgments about groups of people or organizations, preferring to make judgments based on individual actions. However some exceptions are made to this rule. The Terrestrial Lions are sworn enemies of The Deathlords and their Deathknights, though they do not frown on the burial rituals and ancestor worship commonly practiced throughout The Scavenger Lands and especially in Sijan. Ghosts and ancestors should be given their appropriate worship and respect, The Terrestrial Lions do not refute this; but recognize that The Deathlords do not seek to respect our fallen ancestors, but rather to exploit them for their own gain. Ceatures of The Wyld are also considered enemies of The Terrestrial Lions who recognize that the fae have no use for concepts such as justice and righteousness, they seek only to consume the dreams and souls of innocents which The Terrestrial Lions are sworn to protect.

Celestial exalts may not be permitted membership to The Terrestrial Lions under any circumstance, if a member of the Lions were to receive a Celestial Exaltation they were be permitted to leave the organization gracefully. The Lions do not disapprove of Celestial Exaltation like much of Creation, rather recognizes that Celestial Exalts should not be confined to the comparatively narrow scope of this organization. The Lions maintain two close relationships with Solar Exalts, Husk as a co-founder of the organization and Aktuelle a friend and ally of Arellious and Sarfine. The Terrestrial Lions are always looking for allies who share their ideals, but feel it is best for the individual as well as the people of Creation for Celestial Exalts to remain independent of The Terrestrial Lions.
