Talk:Grass Spiders On You

From The Whereabouts

Just thought everybody should know that we're on the first page of a Google search for: exalted "grass spiders"

Page 160 of MoEP: Infernals makes an addendum/clarification to the Exalted grappling rules, stating that characters in control of a clinch can, in fact, move (but not dash) while grappling. Since this devalues the introductory grappling charm we came up with for the martial arts style, I propose the following replacements:

One would be a charm that allows you to use the person you're grappling as martial arts weapon (with the appropriate improvised weapon penalties). This would include parrying, and on a successful parry, the person who you're clinching (again, you'd need to be controlling to do this) would be hit by the attack.

The other idea would be to allow the character to inflict lethal damage with clinches - this should certainly be in the charm tree somewhere (watch a tarantula fighting - the grab, hold + bite is their most common attack. Given that clinching is staggeringly effective in Exalted, our aspiring assassins would do well to follow suit), but I considered that we might want to save this for the upper-tier grapple charm.

Obviously I'm always open to other ideas as well.

OMG! A clarification? I won't believe it until I see it, but if it is true I'm down with the change. Maybe something like using a person as a shield? After you apply the -3 penalty for the person being a improvised weapon it might not be a very effective charm. Allowing them to count as a shield might me better. And if they miss as a result of the bonus it would hit the other clinched person. --FyreFly 17:31, 29 October 2009 (EDT)

PC circle name idea - The Sky-Spanning Rogue Devils (after all, we do have our own airship. We could be the Rogues for short.)

Thoughts?

I like it. I'm not 100% but I like it. --FyreFly 23:21, 20 August 2009 (EDT)

I agree with Tony. On a second and third thought. I have a water aspected character I may prefer and I started working on the Grass Spider MA.

Awesome. To follow up on that, Opal is fairly non-Caste specific, so just keep me posted on who you want to play. I have some thoughts on the style myself, and I've been trying to find some good stylistic examples of it in anime and other such fantasy themed movies/shows. Mugen but with more jumping might be a pretty good starting point. We should collaborate to make this Martial Arts charm tree, and then somebody can post it. There are aspects of the fan-made one on Exalted wiki that I like, but some that I don't. I'll follow up on this soon enough, as I'm looking at posting some Grass-spiders stuff anyway in the near future.
