Background

Phaeron Briggs is a Bronze-Faction defector. Formerly, he was charged with overseeing and advising upon matters relating to the House Cathak legions. An expert in tactics employed by the Solar and Lunar generals of the First Age, it was through his training and tactics that many newly arisen Solar warlords met their downfall against the Cathak Legions. After a chance encounter with a powerful Eclipse Caste, Phaeron began to see the impurity and corruption that had polluted the Realm. The Dragon-Bloods had become even worse than the Solars they usurped, having sunken to petty infighting and political squabbling. Looking back upon the passion and strength with which the Solar warlords had battled against him, he realized the time had come for the Solars to again ascend to Creation's throne. Without further delay, he established contact with Ayesha Ura, and set about aiding the Gold Faction in their efforts. A master strategist, Phaeron Briggs is searching for a Solar to groom as Creation's next great general, a pupil with whom to share his vast knowledge of lost First Age tactics. He has seen a passion and drive within Lazarus that he hasn't felt since days long gone, and has begun grooming him to lead Creation's great army.

His defection from the Bronze Faction has earned him the ire of Domino, who he despises for what he perceives is a lack of honor and willingness to resort to tactics unbecoming of a keeper of Fate.

Personality

Overtly cantankerous, Briggs is confident in his knowledge and comfortable with his power. He makes no issue of concealing his considerable strength, and frequently boasts and taunts both his students and his opponents. His sense of honor runs deep, however, and he does not take lightly to slights against it (He is known to have killed over shaming insults in the past). He follows a strict warrior's code, and believes unarmed fighting is an affront to the nature of true combat. He feels that the willingness to carry and master a weapon sets apart those who would fight to advance their cause and those who would merely fight to defend themselves. As such, he rarely employs his Sidereal Martial arts, though he does acknowledge their usefulness in directing the Loom of Fate and the Essence within it. His hesitance to employ his learned Martial Arts is more than made up for in his swordsmanship -- Phaeron Briggs is one of the deadliest swordsmen in Creation, and has attained a mastery of the art unseen in the days of the Second Age. He is a harsh, wise mentor, rarely, if ever, offering praise, even for actions performed well (perfection is expected of Exalts), but quick to criticize even the slightest misstep or poor call. His criticisms, however, are always legitimate, and his advice is rarely cryptic -- He is a straightforward master, seeing no time to spare in forcing his pupils to decipher ancient riddles.
