Background

Little is known about the rather mysterious Leviticus, even compared to other Grass Spiders he seems to keep the details of himself hidden. Almost no one within the organization has seen his face, he is almost never without the covering of his symbiotic armor and mask, Rizuka is the only known member to have seen his face. Not uncommonly she is forced to field questions about his appearance, though she hasn't revealed much if anything substantial about it. His unparalleled linguistic ability among Grass Spiders offers no further help, he speaks all five native threshold languages as if he were a native speaker. Most members suspect that he hails from either the west, due to his water aspected anima, or from the south based on his extremely rare choice in riding a familiar Furnace Rhino. Of course Leviticus has confirmed none of this.

Despite a reluctance to discuss his past he is a rather pleasant fellow to be around, though he can frequently be found keeping to himself reading or writing any form of literature he is never shy or reluctant to share with those who wish to listen. He is rather passionate about almost all forms of literature as well as linguistics and distinct dialects of people scattered about Creation, he keeps detailed maps indicating language barriers and differences. What most find more interesting about the maps he keeps is the profound knowledge he keeps of various gateways into or out of Creation. He has extensively studied the behaviors of Shadowlands and Malfeas, and has even come across some knowledge of how to gain passage into Heaven, though he has never done so.

Leviticus' fighting style is as overwhelming as his aspect would indicate, adapting in endless fashion until he finds a weakness to exploit. He uses the unique symbiotic armor that is bound to his body in a variety of ways to enhance his own mastery of various forms of combat, and has adapted the Grass Spider's own martial art in slight ways to fit these needs. He is regarded as one of the most proficient combatants outside of The Harvestmen and has helped them at times with the furthering of their martial art.

Leviticus meets privately with Rizuka on a monthly basis regardless of any apparent injury or ailment, this went long unnoticed among other members, but his circle has started to grow curious, and equally as concerned. There is a quiet rumor among them that he is somehow ill or unwell, though Rizuka will not discuss anything of the sort and Leviticus is silent on the matter.

What He's Been Up To

The Veil War

Leviticus is deeply, and personally involved in The Veil War. Part of Leviticus feels responsible for the escalation of conflict between the two sides, as his own actions in Denandsor sparked tensions, regardless of who's fault it was. However, it is also true that the war simply suits him. Leviticus has always possessed a unique skill set for a Member of The Order, The Veil War has made those talents indispensable. Leviticus is extremely well educated and is unparalleled in all manners of linguistics, geography, and cryptology within the organization. He has a natural mind for high espionage and riddles, these talents have made him part of the exclusive brain trust, along with Rizuka, Oak, and occasionally the Three Fiends, that make decisions regarding big picture path for The Grass Spiders. As a result Leviticus now spends significantly less time completing missions for The Order, and increasingly more time at The Range Homes and within The Manse, typically working on increasingly secretive projects. However, Leviticus' natural curiosity and skill set certainly dictate that he doesn't spend all of his time at The Range Homes and he takes particular interest in any missions that involve the forces outside of Fate. His intense interest has led to The Grass Spider's first mission undertaken completely outside of Creation; Bran and Leviticus led a successful mission directly into the heart of The Underworld. He continues to explore the details of The Wyld, Malfeas, and especially Heaven as he continues his quest to visit the elusive Yu-Shan. The Veil War has led him closer to all of these as well as introduced new, unknown mysteries into this world as Leviticus has taken a great interest in the mysterious mechanical exalt that The Circle With No Name encountered during The Rat that Caught the Canary. Leviticus and Ruby in particular have taken interest in the foreign technology encountered there as well as the box they brought back that serves as the primary clue regarding The Eye of Autochthon.

Leviticus has always met privately with Rizuka on a monthly basis, however these sessions seem to have increased with frequency over the last couple of years and some have begun to wonder if his decreased mission rate is partially out of concern for his well being. Speculation has begun that he has physically lost a step, as several training partners have claimed he lacked some of his usual sharpness while sparring, but most of The Order would say that an perceived decline is imagined. Further complicating matters is a recent conflict with his circle-mate, The One-Eyed Queen. On a recent mission into the depths of The Wyld, Leviticus sustained a serious injury and was knocked unconscious, Queen made the decision to remove Leviticus' symbiotic armor to treat the wound. Both ended up escaping The Wyld and Queen insists that she likely saved his life, however Leviticus took serious exception to her decision, especially considering she is fully aware of his privacy regarding the matter. For a short time it seemed that the conflict would have serious consequences, however Rizuka, who is a close personal friend to both, was able to smooth things over. An undeniable tension still exists between the two Red Hoods, but both have made a considerable effort to improve the situation. Most of the organization is wise enough to avoid the topic altogether these days.
