Physical Apperance

Kaytlin has platinum blond hair that extends just below her shoulders. Her hair usually flows freely, although she will make adjustments for special occasions. She stands 5 feet 9 inches off of the ground. She is slim and well proportioned, and her casual clothing reflects this.

Personality

Kaytlin is a very respectful individual. She enjoys working well with a team and cooperating to get tasks complete. Her mind is very analytical and technical, but she knows her boundaries. She is very good at figuring out puzzles, reading schematics, and other activities involving critical thinking.

She might come out as shy to those who don't know her. She opens up and can become very outgoing to people she knows. She usually carries with her a smile, even in the toughest of situations. She enjoys her work and her position in life. She considers herself very intellectual and technically blessed, although you will never hear her brag about it.

She is optimistic, yet cautious. She is level-headed, ambitious, determined, strong-willed and kind hearted. She will do what it takes to get the job done and assist the New Republic in whatever ways she can.

Background

Kaytlin was born to a middle class family from Kuat. Her father was a proud and successful owner of a small shipping corporation. Kaytlin knew very little of her mother. She died of natural causes when she was only an infant. Her father, Darren, was forced to raise his daughter on his own. He never spoke of his former wife, and would never re-marry.

Although residents of Kuat, their support was hardly in favor of the Imperial regime. Darren was continually upset at their restrictions and oppressions that he faced in the small business world. Kaytlin grew up with anti-Imperial spirits. Although out of fear they never expressed their discontent, it was there.

Kaytlin's childhood was not a normal one. She spent the majority of her time playing with the family droid and building structures out of special blocks. Right from the start Darren recognized here technical aptitude. She developed a strong interest in the machinery of droids and other devices. Because of this, she had few friends and was treated as an outcast within her education system.

Right around the time Kaytlin became a teenager, the Battle of Endor was concluded. Darren took this moment as a special chance to give Kaytlin the excellent opportunity she deserved. He moved from Kuat to Coruscant, which would help both his small business and Kaytlin's educational development.

Her life turned around with this move. As she developed into a young adult, people began to take notice and she was treated more like a goddess than an outcast. She continued to progress into the study of technology. Educators recognized her ability and placed her in special programs, where she graduated with the highest of marks.

Kaytlin had a playful side to her: in her new life on Coruscant she met many friends and became a mastermind at pranking them. She had an instinctive interest in the value of information. In school, she was the one who would see and hear all. Extracting information from her was rather difficult.

After she graduated from public schooling, she had a new objective to tackle. She had no idea where to begin searching for a career that would satisfy her desires.

One of her instructors was able to get Kaytlin a job at a private securities corporation. She enjoyed the work and took in much information about the topic at hand. This led her to make some decisions about her life. She decided to join up with local law enforcement as an investigative assistant.

During this time, she developed a lot of contacts in the law enforcement world as well as in the criminal world. Being on Coruscant, she knew who was good and who was up to trouble. She developed a deep interest in intergalactic affairs. She considered becoming a journalist, where she could travel to far off places reporting on significant events. But she was looking for something more.

She resigned from the private securities company in search for something more. Her search took her to several independent worlds. Her looks made it easy for her to get friends fast. She joined up with the independent government of Esseles as part of their intelligence task force.

Esseles used Kaytlin on the front lines and in dangerous situations, which quickly showed them how good she really was. They were impressed by her ability to succeed. When they needed information, she delivered, and in good timing. She worked the cases of several local criminals on the planet, and was able to pinpoint their location and capture them.

Esseles intelligence sent her against the Republic. She and her team were ordered to retrieve sensitive information from a small complex on Chandrila. The data continued information on Esseles-Republic relations, as well as Republic files on Esseles personnel. It was at this time that Kaytlin became overconfident in her abilities. She was good, but she had never gone up against the Republic or the Empire yet. Her ignorance was her downfall.

It was late at night when they made the break-in. They entered the small governmental complex from the roof, cutting themselves an entrance. The storage room they entered was dark and quiet. She and her team were dressed in completely black attire, with tight hoods to hide their hair. They secured the upper quadrant of the building and entered into the upper level communications closet.

Quickly, Kaytlin connected to the Republic network and set to work. She was an extremely skilled slicer, but the Republic networks were new to her, and the security was tight. After a good twenty minutes, she weaved her way through the system, reaching higher access by the minute. However, she still couldn't find what she was looking for.

Just as she was about to give up, her heart sank as she heard on the comlink. "Guards entering upper levels. Abort! Abort!" She jumped out of the communications closet as fast as her legs would take her, taking her datapad with her. The guards quickly turned the corner and fired stun shots at the intruders. Kaytlin scrambled to find an exit, but to no avail. The corner she turned just yielded a new office corridor, each office locked. She was without the time to try and unlock one of them.

The guards quickly turned the corner and trained their weapons on Kaytlin's figure. She immediately froze, hoping to be spared by the wrath of their blasters. They did not fire, and she was immediately taken down and cuffed quickly.

After spending the night in the local jail, she was interrogated the next day. Kaytlin, not really liking Esseles anyway, ratted on every little bit about them. She put up resistance at first, but talked after she knew she would get something out of it. She was skilled, and the New Republic officials recognized that.

After a few rounds of negotiating, Kaytlin was able to dodge jail time and join up with the New Republic. Her extreme talents and apparent disloyalty to her previous employer got the NRI's attention quickly. Within the month, she became an official member of the New Republic Intelligence, was was very excited about her new future.

Throughout Kaytlin's life and experiences, she knew she performed unusually well compared to the average person. She has always felt this unique, strange feeling when she is hard at work. She can reach out and visualize, and she is able to solve incredibly complex situations quickly, such as repairing a damaged computer system. She is force sensitive. Although she is unsure of this unique blessing, she has done some research and has a suspicion that she might possess the abilities. She told herself that when the time was right, she would get her questions answered, and explore this new dimension in her life.

Note: Below is an addition to Kaytlin's background explaining what happened to her during my four year absence as a player.

Kaytlin exhibited strong skills and work effort during her first year with the NRI. She trained rigorously and competed with others for more intriguing cases and assignments. She was specifically good at breaking into computer networks, and they began to send her on assignments with covert operations teams to break into facilities and slice their computer systems.

It didn't take long before one mission went south and changed her life in the blink of an eye. Her team's mission was foiled on Nar Shaddaa during a break-in at a criminal base. Two members of her team were killed, and the other three, including herself, were captured.

Sparing the severe details, she was subjected to rigorous torture. These events changed her forever. Her carefree and overly-happy personality was washed away within a week. Her captivity lasted almost one year before the crime network that was holding her collapsed. She and the others were rescued during a Republic operation to take down the crime lord.

After debriefing it was determined that Kaytlin's return to the NRI was questionable considering all that she had been through and the fact that she had been compromised. She was given a year leave of absence and told that she would be re-evaluated for duty after that time. She let a year and a half go by before building up the courage to rejoin. At present, she has just been re-admitted.

Kaytlin is not the same person she used to be. Her personality has changed drastically. She is still ambitious and motivated, but her worldly view is much more cynical. Occasionally, she can become angry and hostile. It takes quite a bit to even get her to crack a smile anymore.
