Jayne McDoe: Character Sheet

Background

Jayne is an identical twin to her sister, Celeste McDoe. Together they run the only blacksmith forge in the village, but due to the lack of abundant metal and ore, it's also the only general "make anything you need" shop. Celeste is capable and talented, but Jayne is better. Jayne is the one who has invented everything for the village from the functional (a shovel that won't rust or rot in the wet climate) to the fanciful (a mechanical hen that eats flour, sugar, etc., and lays egg-shaped cupcakes). Unfortunately, no one seems to notice or remember this fact and always credit Celeste with her inventions. Actually, no one seems to remember that Jayne is her own person despite her huge personality, loud laugh, and bawdy jokes. As a baby, her parents, overwhelmed with 8 children under 8 years old, forgot they had a set of twins more than once. If one of Jayne and Celeste's siblings would draw their parents' attention away, and Jayne crawled out of sight from her sister, her parents would forget to look for her. Events like this happen constantly - if Jayne is out of sight, she's out of mind. Therefore, she has developed a deep sense of loneliness which she tries to compensate for with a slightly clingy and over-the-top personality.Recently though, she has started to notice other strange happenings around the village and is beginning to think that perhaps there's some other reason why people forget her.
