Episode IX: Exporting Valuable Cargo
After exploring the markets of Gerrenthum the crew returns to the ship to find a message from Dalo Namore waiting for them. Dalo has a mission on nearby Sullust for the crew, who agrees to take it on for a moderate reward. Dalo puts the crew in contact with Sian Tevv, one of the leaders of the Sullustan Resistance Movement who is seeking to gain independence from the Empire without joining The Rebellion, a process Vondarc supports but can't risk being associated with. The crew agrees to take on the extraction of three Sullustan dignitaries for a 15,000 credit reward to be paid upon their safe arrival on Vondarc.
The crew makes the hyperspace jump, exiting as close to the hostile atmosphere of Sullust as possible in order to avoid detection by The Sorosub Home Guard who patrols the planet. Though there is a blackout due to volcanic activity they navigate into the atmosphere and find an entrance into the underground cities of Sullust without taking damage to their ship. Once inside the tunnels they safely navigate to the city of Fulluusub, where they were informed they would find Sian Tevv and their targets. They land the ship at a public spaceport in the city and contact Sian to set up a meeting, initially untrusting of the unknown foreigners they set up a meeting in a small underworld cantina. The crew finds themselves slightly exposed, as they are a few of the only non-Sullustans in the area, but get to their meeting in the backroom of the bar without drawing too much attention. In the backroom the crew meets Sian Tevv and and after a significant conversation gain enough of his trust to be shown to their targets.
They are led through the alleys of the city before entering a warehouse like structure, here they find the operation of the Sullustan Resistance Movement is in full operation with dozens of operatives. They meet their targets, who are all older, well dressed Sullustan dignitaries. Sian provides the crew with ground transport back to the spaceport, however before they exit the vehicle they see a Home Guard patrol. They find a rear entrance and enter the spaceport unnoticed, however while making their way towards their docking bay they are spotted and a firefight breaks out in the crowded public spaceport. Though surrounded the crew out guns the security forces and makes their way to the ship, once there the crew's battle droids join the fight and help to put a quick end to the remaining Home Guard forces.
The Kraken's Kiss quickly navigates it's way out of the tunnels of the planet, but again finds the atmosphere of the planet dangerously turbulent and black with volcanic ash. They are forced to slow the ship drastically just to escape the rough atmosphere, and by the time they do they are being ambushed by a squad of Cloak Shape Fighters from the Home Guard. An initial exchange of concussion missiles leaves The Kraken's Kiss heavily damaged and 2 of the 3 fighters destroyed, and from there the lack of numbers advantage leaves the small fighter badly outgunned against the larger Kraken's Kiss which soon overwhelms it. They begin to make their escape, but the damaged ship has some trouble entering hyperspace which gives time for reinforcements to threaten the ship before they finally make the jump and escape the planet.
They safely arrive on Vondarc with no further complications and are guided in to land in a familiar government spaceport on Vondarc. They are greeted there by Dalo, and turn over the dignitaries in exchange for their promised reward. However, Dalo has to tell the crew that they will have trouble repairing their ship on Vondarc because of part shortages as a result of the upheaval on Sullust where many of their imports come from.
