Background

Bryce grew up a commoner in a small village at the foot of The Imperial Mountain. A mining town that explored the surfaces of the great mountain range, working opposed to the Mountain Folk who dwelled beneath the surface and had easiest access to the greatest of treasures. His family had always been miners, at least as long as they could remember, their life was uneventful and held no promise. Bryce, the youngest of his brothers and sisters, could not accept that. He left the town his family had remained in for generations to join the Imperial Armies, desperate for more soldiers in these trying times the Dynasty was in no place to turn away a willing soldier. His duty there was perhaps no more meaningful than those mining upon the mountain but he felt more accomplished far away from his home. The boredom would not last forever, he was deployed into the north as part of the Tepet legions that fought against The Bull of the North. As a common infantry man he had little part in the battle, their force was routed by the superior tactics of the solar leader. Sent scattering into the blistering cold of the north, at the mercy of the weather and the creatures that hunted the snow drifts for food, few of his companions survived.

Bryce too was trapped in a collapsing snow drift, a trap set up to catch prey, all alone about to die he looked up to the sun and felt it's warmth. The Unconquered Sun chose him that day and with his help he escaped certain death in the cold, winter wastelands of the north. When he returned to the shores of the Inland Sea where what remained of the Tepet forces was preparing to make way back to the Isle, he had a new mission.

Bryce continued his service in the legions of The Realm for many years, often forced to work against his own cause to ultimately further his goals. He did not always understand it himself, but he felt the Unconquered Sun had been clear to him and that he must remain until the time presented itself. Bryce showed great patience and maintained a low profile, rarely promoted he was no more than a low ranking officer who earned little attention. However, even a low ranking veteran officer was able to discern great amounts of information and whenever he could he slipped this information to those who would oppose The Realm.

Personality

Bryce was a man who embraced his destiny. Bryce was not always dealt the best hand, but he knew how to make the best of a lousy one. Bryce's wit may have led him to over confidence, but he would simply have remarked he was only being optimistic. He was a light going man who enjoyed what he did, loving nothing more than the subtleties of deception despite the danger it led him in. He was never one to panic, if he had he would have died much sooner than he did, his nerve was unshakable and his bravery unmatched. Bryce was also a man of foresight, he knew that sacrifices had to be made and he could make such sacrifice's without thought or hesitation.

Bryce stood unshaken in the very lines of the army that sought to destroy him, fought along side members of a dynasty that had all but exterminated his people. He laid in wait as he passed by the small opportunities for revenge; he showed patience when the Dragon-Blooded generals shouted orders to him, when the Immaculate Monks preached to him, and when the twisted politicians tried to manipulate him. In the end Bryce knew that assassinating one of these men would not lead to change, through a feat of foresight and patience unmatched by his kind in this Age of Sorrows Bryce laid the seeds of revolution upon the Blessed Isle itself. His tireless work and dedication passing information to the solar cause lead to advances some of his kind had never dreamed possible, he did not live to see the solar led army march on The Imperial Capital, but without him there is no doubt it never would have.
