Blackrock Spire

The tower city of Blackrock Spire.

The city of Blackrock Spire lies in a small valley along the Maruto River, about a days ride south of Selbina. The city is centered around a massive spire of natural black rock that has been partially hollowed out and lived in since the first age. Once this mighty tower served as a glorious watch tower where at the top the lookouts could see to the end of the Maruto River. That was long ago and the spire is only a fraction of its former glory, though it still stands as a structure to rival the tallest structures in all the Scavenger Lands. The guard of the tower used to watch 24 hours a day, and as a result of their rotating schedule they chose to live in the tower itself, eventually as the guards sought more permanent homes they built them along the bottom of the spire. This was the beginning of Blackrock Spire. In the second age the guards families have settled onto the spire and slowly built a small city at the foot of the spire, how high on the spire ones house is is often seen as a sign of status within the town. Because there is limited room on the spire itself and the villagers lack the necessary technology to build new buildings at the top, the village has started to span out onto the rocky ground of the valley below.
