Physical Description

Adamant Dragon is a colossal man, even by exalted standards, he stands 7' tall and weighs nearly 300 lbs. of solid muscle. However, his massive frame is not his most distinct and recognizable feature. The 25 year old western native is most notorious for his unique gray-blue skin color, a color associated with the water surrounding the Darkmist Shadowland. This gives him the reputation of being demon blooded, though there is no truth to the rumor, his dark hair and sharp features contribute to the intimidating appearance. Adamant Dragon's apparel is unlike most native westerners, wearing trousers and boots along with a black, high collared buff jacket even through the hot summer months. Slung across his back rests his mighty grand daiklave, Kusanagi, the blade is typically covered by a thin white cloth to hide its true nature from anyone educated well enough to recognize it.

Personality

Adamant Dragon had been a slave for most of his life, even as well treated as he was he was taught humility and appreciation for life. Now that he is not only a free man but one of the chosen of the gods he sometimes struggles with the conflict between his humble upbringing and his noble rebirth. He is often a solemn man, especially in public as he rarely desires bringing any unwanted attention upon himself, not an easy task considering his rather noticeable physical appearance. However, in private or caught up in a fit of anger he is much different; he is often short with people, especially those who set themselves against him and can be quick to judge both those who ally with him or against him.

Background

A wealthy merchant and trader had made his way too far west and drifted his boat into the depths of the Wyld where the turbulent ocean water turns to blood and cries out for the mortal lives foolish enough to find themselves there. When they came across the remains of a destroyed ship, they did not expect to find any survivors, rather they expected they too would soon be another ship that went missing in the Wyld. However, much to their surprise they found an infant boy floating among the shipwreck, the human looking boy seemed to be just fine except for one feature, his skin had been turned gray-blue in color. Feeling they couldn't abandon the boy to the Wyld, even if he was part of it, they took him aboard the ship and gave him medical care; all this despite still believing they would never return to the stable lands of creation. Defying the odds the ship and its crew sailed out of the Wyld lands before nightfall hit, they thought of leaving the boy behind but the captain insisted he had been a sign of good fortune so the merchant took the boy in to become one of his slaves.

The boy went unnamed for many years after that, serving his master diligently as he had always been told how the master had sparred his life. The wealthy merchant and slave owner treated his slaves well and most of all took care of the boy, who had always had an aura of magnificence about him despite whispers of his cursed appearance. As he grew into adolescence Adamant Dragon's natural strength started to become evident and after a scuffle in the yard with a much older man the wealthy merchant decided that Adamant Dragon would be best served as a gladiator. After several months of combat training Adamant Dragon began to compete in organized pit fighting, at first only as a side responsibility to his other duties, but as he showed his promise fighting started to become his only purpose. Over a time of several years Adamant Dragon started to make a name for himself among Coral pit fighters, a 'sport' that was incredibly popular in this region. Adamant Dragon began to become known as Danna'd's Wrath among the people of Coral who said that the great elemental dragon himself had possessed him, little did they know this couldn't have been further from the truth.

After many years of fighting Adamant Dragon had grown to have a mutual respect with his merchant owner who served more like his agent than his slave owner, however most if not all of his winnings still went to the merchant. As he became famous Adamant Dragon started to travel about the west, fighting in big events all across the region, even fighting a single high profile fight in The Realm. While on a trip through the Isles of the west the ship was blown astray by a strong storm, pushing the ship and its crew westward into the Wyld. While in the bordermarches of the Wyld the ship was attacked by raiding fairfolk, the crew tried to fight off the marauders , but it was not until Adamant Dragon joined the fight and suddenly exalted that they were able to defeat the fae. After his exaltation Adamant Dragon was taken with new purpose, one that could no longer be accomplished as a slave. He spoke with his owner who was now in his debt for saving his life and his ship, not to mention fearful that he would incur the wrath mighty solar gladiator. They reached an agreement and Adamant Dragon was dropped off in one of the protectorates of Coral, now a free man.

Adamant Dragon had always been haunted by vivid dreams that felt more like memories, after his exaltation he realized that that is exactly what they were. He spent some time after securing his freedom roaming the islands of the west, attempting to follow the scattered dreams and memories; one night his dream was particularly vivid, as if he was truly there, in lab under the sea. He searched the island extensively including the beaches and out each direction but found nothing, however his dream remained the same and vivid while upon the island. Eventually while exploring the outskirts of the beach he discovered a sudden drop off where the island seemed to end. Diving deep along the island shelf he discovered the underside of the island where gravity seemed to reverse as if the underside was meant to be inhabited. He discovered a small building that seemed familiar to him there, inherently knowing the way to enter he discovered the lab he had seen in his dreams. Once inside he immediately recognized this place as where he did research during the first age, while the manse require some repair he found the manse contained a substantial amount of knowledge. Much of this knowledge was eliminated because he could not speak old realm but some of the basic info was in sea tongue. He spent a long time secluded in lab, teaching himself as he worked alone on repairing the secret manse. He still had much to learn and in a backlash of essence some of the powers were destroyed, including the pools of knowledge that had supplied him with most that he had learned. He was able to rebuild the manse but was unable to regenerate the knowledge that had been contained within it, reshaping its powers to suit his own purpose he finally finished the repair. After repair was complete he again ventured out into the world, his source of knowledge was depleted but he had learned the power essence flow held and sought to expand his knowledge and control of it. He set out to gather knowledge by loaning out his own knowledge to build manses, he excepted contracts to design and construct small manses, seeking to gain through experience. While he has only completed the smallest of manses he has learned a great deal from this experience and now feels the power of essence flows throughout creation is a powerful tool he must learn to harness, he seeks the ability to create manses for war similar to The Realm's Defense Grid.

Goals & Objectives

Intimacies
  • The manse that I call home is of great importance to my mission, it has been mine since the dawning of the first age and shall forever remain so.
  • The Sword of Creation's secrets must be discovered or its power can never be rivaled.

As it currently stands Adamant Dragon's occupation aligns directly with his ultimate goals, but he is only in the first stage of his goal. Adamant Dragon's goal should be impossible, he knows it and he doesn't shy away from it, in fact its what drives him to achieve it. He wants to construct a series of war manses throughout the west that will create a defense network that will rival the Realm's very own Defense Grid. The use of this defense grid would allow him to eliminate the threats of the west, he could drive the deathlords from the shadowlands, drive back the raiding fair folk, and protect the islands from the ambitious empire that would seek to control its power. Nothing remotely close to this has been accomplished since the First Age, because of this he must seek the knowledge on his own.

Adamant Dragon currently works as a manse contractor, offering services in design and construction of manes on either raw sites or old sites that need to be rebuilt or repaired; he also has a number of clients who contact him for manses with extreme maintenance requirements. While this business is a lucrative one, Adamant Dragon isn't in it for the money, he's in it for the knowledge. There is no place he can learn how to do what he desires so he's forced to experiment and learn through hands on experience, every job presents a new challenge which brings him a step closer to his goal.

Along with his pursuit for knowledge of advanced manse construction techniques Adamant Dragon is also constantly searching for secure locations with a suitable manse or demanse so that he can begin attempting to construct his first war manse. The constant search for new sites as well as traveling to sites requiring maintenance keeps him busy traveling about the western islands, while not preoccupied he commonly spends time in his underwater lab located under a small island along the southern outskirts of Coral.
