Places

A list of locations that have played a particular part in the storyline, obviously not every location within the Chronicle will be mentioned.

The Hundred Kingdoms

On the eastern edge of the Scavenger Lands where the River Province gives way to the great Eastern Forests, a patchwork of minor city-states and petty principalities lays scattered across the rugged countryside. Many are petty autocracies or simple democratic oligarchies, though some have stranger governing practices. Like much of Creation, the lands hide ancient ruins full of lost wonders and hidden threats. On occasion, some imperial-minded power aims to conquer the Hundred Kingdoms; they oft succeed only in uniting them in resistance to conquest.

The Hundred Kingdoms are compromised of the land and kingdoms North of The Yellow River, East of where the Maruto River meets the Yellow River, and West/South of Rock River. The city of Great Forks to the West is their largest and most powerful neighbor and trade partner; and the Shadowland outside of it ruled by The Deathlord The Walker in Darkness, one of its greatest threats. To the South is the Kingdom of Vaneha, a culture of warrior clans united under one ruler, The Sword Prince, has a tense relationship with The Hundred Kingdoms. To the East is the satrapy and Dragon-Blooded stronghold of Greyfalls. To the North the distant and mysterious Mount Metagalapa, a floating mountain and it's Hawk Riders. Beyond its neighbors The Arczeckhi Horde frequently raids the southern and eastern Kingdoms.

The Hundred Kingdoms is roughly 2500 miles end to end, and almost 2 Million Square Miles of Territory. It is known as the Bread Basket of Creation in reference to the staggering amount of land mass devoted to agriculture. It has the feel of the U.S. Midwest in that it is larger city-states often surrounded by miles and miles of agriculture. Each Kingdom is it's own territory, however there is a distinct difference in the culture and territory from East to West in the Kingdoms. The Western half consists of more rolling fields, prairie and grasslands while the Eastern half is more mountainous and covered by forest. The climate is temperate with a long growing season and short winters, snow is rare outside of the mountains.

  • The Kingdom of Sendai - A small Kingdom in the Northeast with close ties to Lookshy and a reputation for having the most expansive spy network in the region.
  • The Kingdom of Vitalis - One of the most populous and wealthy Kingdoms in all of The Hundred Kingdoms, Vitalis is a powerful economic and military force in The Eastern Mountains with growing ties to The Guild.
  • The Kingdom of Telperion - A relatively new Kingdom in The Eastern Mountains, that broke away from The Kingdom of Vitalis after coming under the leadership of a powerful new ruler who has led it to independence and prosperity.
  • The Kingdom of Orissa - A mining Kingdom in The Eastern Province of The Hundred Kingdoms that is rich in resources but has been ravaged by war and raids until two powerful Exalted brothers changed its fortune.
  • The Emishi Kingdom - A small mountain Kingdom in The Eastern Province of The Hundred Kingdoms, built around an ancient shrine it is a religious and cultural hub known to be a safehaven and refuge for any who The Gods deem worthy.
