Ascending Water 7, R.Y. 768, New Covenant, Frostgate

Chronus had claimed one of the many empty guest rooms in the palace for himself after the expelling of the Realm government. It provided plenty of space for a bed, a desk, a couch, a small bookcase, and a fireplace. At the moment, Chronus sat at the desk preparing to write a letter. He dipped his feather pen in the ink and began to write.

"Dear Severnaya,"

Chronus coughed and dropped the pen back into the ink. Where to begin? It had been a... dynamic three months. All of his previous plans were ruined. He could no longer masquerade as a Realm loyalist. He could no longer fly under the radar when he traveled. The exalts of Covenant were famous, or infamous. Everyone in the North had heard of the anathema that had freed a city from the strangling grip of the Realm. He mused that the story probably went very differently on the Isle. "Oh if they only knew that a couple of amateurs that could barely stand each other long enough to eat a meal had defeated the Realm here in their own city," said Chronus to himself. He picked up the pen and started writing again.

"Congratulations on gaining the rulership of Covenant and securing Efrem Haraku as your general. I want to begin by assuring you that I do not intend to contend with you the rulership of New Covenant. Additionally, should someone make a bid for rulership, you will have my support. I hope, regardless of future contract negotiations, I have your permission to continue to consider New Covenant my home."

"The purpose of this letter is to offer my services to both you and the government of New Covenant. First, and most obviously, I wish to offer my services at sorcery. I have a number of spells that would help with administrative and defensive difficulties. I can counter Emerald Circle Sorcery, send Infallible Messengers, summon Demons of the First Circle, and travel with Stormwind Rider. I can also cast the offensive spell, Death of Obsidian Butterflies. Additionally, I can advise you and your court on issues involving the occult and lore. Finally, if you need a diplomatic agent that is more capable than... the average citizen of Covenant, I can serve in that function as well. I have been trained in bureaucracy, negotiations, and investigation. I also speak the following languages: Skytongue, Rivertongue, High Realm, Low Realm, and Old Realm."

"If you wish to procure any of my services, we should set up a meeting in order to negotiate terms of employment and salary. Please take your time in considering these matters, as that is why I chose to write you instead of offering in person."

"Sincerely,
Mnemon Chronus"

Chronus dropped the pen back into the ink and read the letter back to himself. Feeling satisfied, he pushed his chair away from his desk, stood, and stretched. Waiting for the ink to draw, he poked the fire in the room he took for himself and began to contemplate establishing a more formal residence. Many of the nicer homes in the Diamond District were still unoccupied, and he had plans on claiming one for himself. Satisfied that the ink should be dry, he returned to his desk and picked up an envelope. Addressing it to Severnaya, Chronus folded the letter, slipped it in the envelope, sealed it with wax and marked it with an old, out of date signet ring a relative had given him as a kid.

Chronus opened the door to his room and handed the letter to a blood ape that waited in the hall. "Deliver this the Severnaya and then return here," he said clearly. He closed and locked the door behind him, walked to his desk, and blew out the candle that heated the wax for his seal.
