Background

Ledaal Astrala is the younger of her parents two exalted children and a sort of outcast among her close family members; both of her parents and her older brother attended The Heptagram and are accomplished sorcerers. Naturally it was expected that Astrala too would attend the academy her family had frequented, however by the advice of her grandmother, Ledaal Cycel, she attended The Spiral Academy. Cycel is one of four family elders responsible for running the great house and has constantly offered her guidance in Astrala's life, when younger Astrala hated her grandmothers interference, but she has learned to appreciate the wisdom behind her grandmother's words. A number of years down the road it was Cycel who guided Astrala and Rufus into an arranged marriage, seeing the benefit for both Astrala and House Ladaal.

In her time at The Spiral Academy she evolved from a quiet studious girl who did not quite fit in into one of the most popular girls at the academy. There were few other Ledaal children receiving training there so at first she found that she did not fit in with the other children who often divided themselves based upon house, but as time passed she showed amazing social grace to cross these lines. She never received top marks for her school work at the academy, but she never really seemed to mind as it wasn't her focus. While most graduates of The Spiral Academy graduated with a set careerer path in mind she graduated with a large number of friends, and connections, but no real obvious calling in the Thousand Scales. So it was to many peoples great surprise, though not her grandmothers, when she chose to enter the Ministry of Imperial Assessment which most of her family thought sounded like unimaginably boring work. Astrala however has found the merit in her work and rather enjoys her position as well as the chance for her to raise her position, knowing well how much influence the Imperial Assessors had during the reign of the Empress.

Personality

Ledaal Astrala is the daughter of privilege and she has no problem showing it, she often indulges herself in the extravagant life style she is officially entitled to, but she does not outlive her means despite her expensive taste. She has great poise and grace, along with a natural charisma that draws people in making her a perfect social butterfly. She generally meets people with almost excessive friendliness and makes great first impressions which has led to her having an abundance of friends and acquaintances. Her social network within the Imperial Capital is as extensive as any Dragon Blood her age and is not confined only to the city. She has a number of acquaintances within many different great houses and values them as if they were alliances, most notable of course is her husband, Cathak Rufus. She strives to further the gains of her house though some of those within it consider her an outcast and question whether she is truly loyal to furthering the goals of the house or only furthering the her own goals. Despite the doubts of some within her house her ultimate goal has little to do with her many friends outside of the house, she merely would like to use them as tools so that her great house continues to build power.
