Background

Slayer was born the first son of a chieftain in the Northern plains. He proved to be healthy and strong, but his parents failed to conceive again causing some strife in his home life. Luckily, Slayer proved to be everything that a chieftain could want in a child. He was fast and strong, tough and perceptive, clever and wise. There were high hopes that he would follow in his father's footsteps as a good leader and protector of their tribe. Bad luck would change his fate, however. One night when the tribe was seeking shelter from a blizzard, the crossed into the territory of an old, grumpy elemental. The spirit decided that they had insulted him and appeared before them. The tribe begged for forgiveness and shelter. The elemental, taking out his anger at the local elemental court, caused an avalanche to crush the tribe. As they were buried, Slayer exalted. When the weather cleared, Slayer found himself the only survivor. Angrily, he tried to contact the spirit with shouts and insults, but it was gone.

Slayer spent many moons wandering the frozen wastes. He found that his Earthen essence made him supernaturally resistant to the elements, lack of sleep, and hunger.
