The Kingdom of Orissa was a small mining kingdom on the northern banks of the Yellow River in the Eastern Province of The Hundred Kingdoms. The mines of Orissa have always been rich, however it's people have been victims of countless raids. The Southern Territory of Vaneha has long been at war with the various Kingdoms within The Hundred Kingdoms, however Orissa has often paid the steepest price. Directly across the Yellow River and rich in resources Vaneha desires the Kingdom of Orissa has been war torn for centuries. Twenty years ago that changed dramatically with the rise of the Rangor Brothers in Orissa. These Dragon-Blooded saviors as their people know them have changed the outlook for their entire Kingdom in a short period of time. Led by two battled hardened Exalts the Vaneha have had to turn their attention to battles they are more likely to win, and the government of Orissa has finally been allowed to make use of their rich resources to help their people. Orissa is a fast rising mining and trade power in the Eastern Hundred Kingdoms marked by hardened and determined citizens and a duo of legendary protectors.
The Meliodas family has ruled Orissa since it's rise from scattered mountain people into an organized Kingdom. Long have the mountain tribes lived off the land and allowed foreign powers to mine their territory for natural resources. Tristan Meliodas a Fire Aspected Dragon-Blood Lost Egg unified the mountain tribes in the first Great War of Orissa almost 700 years ago. He drove away foreign powers and staked claim to the territory still claimed and ruled by the Meliodas family as The Kingdom of Orissa. King Tristan's rule is marked by unification through war, not on his own people, but by rallying to his cause to protect against foreign invaders. He ruled Orissa for 300 years before he was slain in battle as an old man and King. His lineage inherited the throne, but not his Dragon-Blooded power, and the lack of Exalted might on the throne brought about the second great war of Orissa. Sensing weakness the surrounding kingdoms smelled blood in the water and began to attack and pick Orissa apart for valuable territory. Through leadership and perseverance the Meliodas family maintained their Kingdom and protected their people, and through wars of attrition the invading kingdoms slowly took their spoils of war but ceded territory back to Orissa. Destitute from the second Great War Orissa struggled to find prosperity and strength but they survived, for the next 300 years. The third Great War of Orissa started 100 years ago, and whether it is over or not depends on who you ask. The Sword Prince of Vaneha started leading raids against Orissa to collect the resources he desired to build Vaneha into the power that it has become, and has continually raided Orissa as he pleased until the recent rise of The Rangor Brothers turned the advantage from the Vaneha raiders to Orissa's defenders. Perhaps the war is over as a stalemate of some sort has been drawn, but King Vortimer Meliodas stands at a decision point. Orissa has been on the defensive for it's entire history, but The Rangor Brothers and the Time of Tumult might give them an opportunity to be on the attack for once.
King Vortimer Meliodas is the third ruler of Orissa during The Third Great War, he has been King since his mother, the Queen, passed away 20 years ago. Now his eldest daughter, Princess Nimue (Neem-way) stands to inherit the throne next and King Vortimer plots the future of his family and Kingdom.
