| I'm planning to make Udo with Immaculate Martial Artist rules, since what I've read about the Cloister of Wisdom seems to imply that he would have begun his training as an Immaculate while there. And obviously he can continue his training in Immaculate MA without becoming a monk. The question I had was the Immaculates get 5 MA charms at character creation instead of 7, does this include the 2 prerequisites charms that Immaculates must learn before they can start learning MA charms? So do they get the 2 prereq charms and 3 MA charms, or 2 prereq charms and 5 MA charms? Been a while since I made a monk and I can't find where it says for sure. --[[User:FyreFly|FyreFly]] 22:00, 10 May 2011 (EDT)

| To be honest, I have no idea. 2 prereq's and 3 MA charms seems harsh. I will have to check. Also, the book says there is an optional rule for Cloister grads: a free point in MA. I am going to downgrade it to a free point in a MA specialty and allow you to take it. --[[User:Macabreengel|Macabreengel]] 11:15, 11 May 2011 (EDT)

| I don't have my books handy, but I fired this up in Anathema (which has a 2E Immaculate Monk character generator in its newest version) and I'm trying to recall from the top of my head how this works. Basically, you need Pasiap's Humility and Moment of Daana'd to take any other Immaculate MA charms (Anathema seems to agree with this). Anathema also ''does'' count these as two of your 5 charms. This is pretty harsh, but I don't think I'd change it... I think giving the two enlightenment charms for free would be a too overpowering, since it meant the DB would have the same total number of charms (7), but two of them would be Terrestrial, and the other 5 Celestial level, whereas other characters just have 7 Terrestrial charms. Conceptually, the life of an Immaculate is hard - they have to be patient and train longer than anyone else; they give up the most by starting with very comparatively little knowledge of their comparatively stronger discipline, but they end up the most powerful in end game. (Like sorcery, but White-Wolf made it effective in combat).

| Addendum: There seem to be differing official opinions on the matter - John Chambers (we all know who good old JC is) gives them the prereq. charms for free (but with the caveat that he's playing in mixed game with other Celestials and DBs) while Alan Alexander, who wrote the DB charms, said that the initiation charms are meant to count as 2/5 that the DBs start with - Alan noted that he, in contrast to John, plays pure-DB games.
