The General worked with Oni for almost 6 months before he noticed any changes. Nobunaga worked with him in martial arts, with firearms, and other physical training. He introduced Oni into situations that forced him to make a choice in order to complete his orders. For example, chase down two people running in different directions. When Oni simply stood there, unable to decide for himself, the General would order him again to chase them down. He also introduced Oni to traditional Bhuddist koans and meditation. One day, while practicing martial arts, Oni simply snapped. Oni let out a roar, his eyes focused on the General, and he tried to kill him. His normally coldly efficient attacks were killed with a killing rage. He ignored all commands to stop and the General ordered everyone else out of the room so they would not be hurt. Even with his augmented body, the general could not match Oni's strength. Luckily, the General was faster, more highly trained, and much more disciplined. The General avoided Oni's attacks until he wore himself out. When he collapsed, exhausted, he had the troll returned to his room. |

History
Oni was born a killer, literally. The trauma of a small Japanese woman giving birth to a troll baby was too much. Even with advanced medical technology, the bleeding was too much. With her dying breath, Oni's mother made the doctor promise to make sure the baby lived. The doctor, one of the most prominent Japanese-Californian citizens, called one of his closest friends, a Colonel Keiji Saito, and asked him if he could help. He took the death bed oath very seriously and was concerned that the child may not survive a troll orphange, many didnt. The colonel said he understood and that he would find a place for the baby to go. Three days later, when the child was ready to leave the hospital, a Japanese lady in her mid thirties and a immaculate Armoni suit came to retreive the child. When the child questioned what would happen to the boy, she assured him that the child's future was going to be provided for.
Colonol Saito had the child taken to one of his residences where he would be cared for by a maid and an old sensei. Saito had instruced the sensei to turn the child into the perfect bodyguard, and so the sensei taught the child two lessons over and over: obediance and strength. The child was punished for so much as fidgeting without permission. All manor of children's games were turned into training. Success meant moving onto the next lesson; failure meant a beating and then moving onto the next lesson. At first he was a terror and his maid called him "Chiisa na Oni". The name stuck and was eventually shortned to Oni. By the age of 6, however, his mind was completely repressed, his conciousness blank. If he had no orders, he simply stood watching and listening. He ate, not out of hunger, but when ordered. He slept not because he was tired, but because he was commanded. If his sensei was not carefull he would push the boy until he dropped. The boy was trained to fight with his hands and blades, and then, guns. Complete discipline allowed him to master skills very quickly and his size gave him the strength of a much older man. By the age of 10 he 5'6" and over 200 pounds. It was only then that the warrior child was presented to his master.
Oni served his new master honorably. He never spoke, he did what he was told without hesitation, and he kept his eyes open for all the right things and off more delicate matters. Even while still young, Oni served his purpose well. It was apparent to everyone that met him that the monster on the outside was nothing compared to the monster on the inside. Oni would stand guard obediantly while his master's men harrased other metahumans like him. They would call out to him, and he wouldnt even hear or see them until they tried something drastic to escape. Then Oni would cut them down with nothing but blank efficiency. There was none of the hate of a racist, nor the compassion of someone killing a friend to save them from a better fate. There were only orders and action.
The night that the General was diposed, Oni was in his study, guarding the door to the General's private chambers. The flurry of activity gave away that something was going on, but the only order he received was to allow no one in. He followed his orders and waited. Eventually gunfire erupted in another part of the building. It lasted longer than normal and when it ended, it erupted someplace in the building a little after that. Firefights broke out all over the building and Oni readied himself. He drew his heavy pistol with one hand and his katana with the other. When the doors came crashing down, the first three gunmen died before they even set foot into the room. When he saw there were plenty more, he kicked over a desk and took cover behind it, but in front of the General's door. When he finally ran out of bullets, he gripped his katana with both hands a took a very low stance behind the desk. He listened. After a few moments of silence the gunmen rushed the room figuring their advesary was out of ammo. Oni leapt from behind the desk and crushed the first man's chest with a flying kick. The men to his right and left took slahes to the torso moments later. Oni was a flurry of steel but was eventually brought down. He wasnt sure if his master escaped or not, but either way, he had failed.
Oni was left for dead, but he was not. When the medical personel came through the building later, he was discovered and put under their care. It was quickly discovered who he was and he was put in a prison medical facility for trolls and over-cybered criminals. He was interregated and tortured a number of times, but hardly spoke a word. He was ordered exacuted by a military tribunal. On the way to his execution, a 5 star general that had taken an interest in the troll intervened. General Oda Nobunaga had watched the tribunal and decided that the monster was only a child and had been severly abused. He decided that he couldnt let this "Oni" be put to death.
General Nobunaga had Oni transfered into his custody where he was under 24 hour serveillance. Initially he thought the boy might be autistic. Oni simply sat, spoke simple, one word answers, and followed any orders he was given in a straightforwad and simple manor. After consulting with doctors, getting brain scans, etc, he was decided that he was not autistic, but severelly withdrawn. The child that lived in the body never touched the surface and never interracted with the outside world. The doctors suggested keeping him in some kind of training regimine, being firm with him, and putting him in situations with increasing pressure and difficulty until he is forced to crack the surface. They warned the General that he might go on a rampage when he finally breaks out of the shell.
