Background
Adam Orion grew up in the North End of Boston, the son of a middle-class couple who divorced before Adam can remember. He was raised by his mother, along with his younger sister, who lived a normal suburban life in the cultural center of America. Adam attended public school where he stood out both academically and athletically and turned down several other promising opportunities to go to the naval academy. Adam studied physics at the naval academy and graduated with high marks, what impressed his superiors more was how he excelled at every aspect of military training that he was presented with. Upon graduation from the academy he immediately entered service with the Navy Seals where he earned several medals during his time in combat zones and on high risk missions. During Adam's last year with the Seals he served on Seal Team 6, a high distinguished and specialized anti-terrorism unit.
After his service in the navy he decided to continue his education at MIT, where he earned his masters degree in aerospace engineering. While feeling some pressure to return to the navy upon graduation, Adam passed up that opportunity to follow a different dream, to go into space. Hired on by NASA he began the rigorous training necessary to be selected to go into space, Adam found the piloting controls of the space shuttle came to him naturally, and soon enough he was sent on his first mission to space. Adam's second trip to space where he becomes the lone occupant of the International Space Station is where the fun really starts; but that is a story for another time and place.
Personality
Adam is reckless, stubborn, insubordinate, arrogant, and perhaps downright insane. He even earned himself a short stay at the Void Engineers very own insane asylum; his escape, the only in recorded history, proved to them that he was of more use out of it than in it. He cares very little for the establish order of things and almost always prefers to do things his way, luckily for them they tend to work out. His high paced lifestyle rarely ever slows down, when he is not in the field he keeps up a rather exciting nightlife in the local mortal population. He seems to operate under the assumption that he can still maintain a normal lifestyle in the sleeper population, though he never lets his personal life leak into his work.
How I Became a Technocrat
Adam punched the twelve inch thick glass circle that was supposed to pass as a window on this hollow titanium tube of scrap metal. Space station... SPACE STATION?!? Not exactly the fucking Death Star, it may have been one of mankind's greatest achievements but after two months all alone on this interconnected series of tubes it hardly felt like it. On top of that something smashed into it and knocked out communication almost 20 hours ago, his face was pressed against the window he just punched trying to get a decent look at the damage but that was easier said than done.
"Fuck it... Fuck NASA... Fuck Earth.... Fuck Space..."
Adam had started talking to himself about two weeks ago, he thought that was pretty good, he went six weeks before he starting doing it. Adam had also gotten quite proficient at moving rapidly through the narrow corridors of the space station in the eight weeks aboard it, flowing seamlessly between a crawl and crouched stride. NASA protocol dictated that he shouldn't go out into space while alone and with no form of communication, no sensors or imaging equipment. He would be walking out blindly, but how else was he supposed to fix it. Adam lacked the patience to wait around for some nerds in Houston figure it out soon. He reached the locker that had the space suit packed into it, pulling pieces out and letting them float idly at his side as he started climbing into the uncomfortable and restrictive suit.
Sirens and flashing red lights were never a good sound, he froze for a moment with the suit half pulled up his legs, floating at some strange sort of incline looking up towards the ceiling were a red light flashed at him and made some god awful loud sound. Adam stared at it blankly, blinking a few times as he floated frozen in the space.
