Background
Eiji was born into the streets of Gem where he grew up living off the streets in anyway that he could, often resorting to pick pocketing and theft to get by. He had been arrested a number of times by the local authorities managing to escape prison every time until his last; when he was last brought in by a Dragon-Blooded upstart who Eiji had wronged he was given the death sentence and ordered to be hung at dawn. Eiji's escape from the hands of the executioner and ropes of the gallows will always be remembered among the street urchins of Gem, though accounts of the tale vary greatly. What is known to be true is that before the life was strangled out of him he was chosen by the Unconquered Sun, and made a dazzling escape from the clutches of the law befitting of a solar exalt.
After his escape he was unable to stay in Gem due to an increase in pressure for him to be found and killed, not to mention the soon to arrive Wyld Hunt. So he left that day with nothing, wandering out into the harsh deserts of the south for better or worse. Luckily enough for Eiji he was picked up by a group of bandits who happened to be captained by two young solars, and it was a good thing for Eiji for he had long run out of food and water and was wandering the expansive deserts of the south without direction. The group led by Eden and Seth allowed Eiji to travel with them, and helped him to regain his health as they made their way to Chiaroscuro where they were currently working out of due to overwhelming heat for them to be out of Nexus for a while. Eiji worked with Eden and Seth for some time, often roaming about different areas of the south and eventually visited Nexus with them; he found himself well suited for the work they did but missed his home city of Gem where he felt obligated to set right the streets much like Eden and Seth did for Nexus.
Eiji arrived in Gem with a rough plan of how to set things straight but his guerrilla tactics soon proved to gain him a lot of wealth while changing very little for the people who he wanted to help. It was around this time that an elder solar by the name of Galador sought Eiji to help set him along a more proper path. With the help of Gallador Eiji has been able to make great strides in helping the people in the streets of Gem, though he has of late been distracted by the world issues that have engulfed creation. While not many know what exactly he is currently up to it is without a doubt that Eiji is heavily involved behind the scenes of The Zerund Conflict, though he rarely takes direct action. Without much explanation Eiji delivered the original shardiron box to Kevik, all that he has said about the subject is that it was Seth who gave it to him with instructions to deliver to Kevik at the right time. How exactly Seth or Eiji managed to keep this box secret and safe is unknown even to Amadues who would certainly like to know how it was concealed from his spell to destroy them all.
Personality
Eiji is known to rarely take anything seriously even if it concerns his own safety, though he has been known to be slightly protective of the few possessions he holds dear. He seems to think that a divine force looks over him, which of course is at least slightly true, guiding things to fall his way. This uncanny luck has led to an overconfidence in many aspects of his life and he rarely prepares for even the most dire of circumstances, and of course he never seems to worry. He maintains a sense of humor through the most tense and desperate of situations, never losing hope and it has gotten him out of more than his fair share near death situations.
In reality his sense of humor and thick layer confidence often act as a mask to hide any true feelings he doesn't wish to give across, Eiji it an intensely secretive man who has not let anyone grow close to him sense the deaths of Seth and Eden. He views his own life as an abomination of what should have been and has demonstrated on more than one occasion he does not give it much value. Eiji has long sense felt that the odds were stacked against not only him but his kind and that without the support of The Unconquered Sun himself that they were fighting a battle they could not win. He rarely if ever lets these feelings show through but it has led to a habit of working alone whenever he can, of those left alive perhaps only Gallador is aware of the broken state of Eiji's life. In order to avoid unpleasant memories of the past Eiji has thrown himself into keeping consistently busy with relatively meaningless tasks that generally focus on the material objects, and when that is not enough there are always bottles of alcohol and pleasant 'company' for hire to drown out the memories.
