Sven Maximilian Ahlgren was born to a Swedish immigrant who worked as a museum curator in Philadelphia after obtaining a work visa in the United States after finishing her graduate studies here. During his time in college his mother's work visa expired, and expectantly was not renewed, due to an error in paperwork according to the immigration office. Her appeal was not granted and after living in The U.S. for more than 25 years she returned to Sweden. She found a much less prestigious position at a small, local art gallery and she continues to work and live there while occasionally keeping in touch with Sven, typically through the internet. Sven has visited his mother's home country several times, but shows no interest in living there.

  • Sven earns a moderate living as a talented photojournalist and freelance photographer, rather than collect a salary he works independently and his income can vary as a result but he typically makes $40,000 - $50,000 yearly. He rents a nice studio apartment in a young, hip area of the city and drives a fairly new Suburu Legacy.
