History

The City of Orok's Basin has traditionally been and still is the second largest city in Frostgate, and is commonly the most well connected to Creation outside of the territory. Orok's Basin has had a slight population swell since the dismissal of the Dragon-Blooded Satrap due to the loss of the city of Wayland to barbarians. Luckily many of the cities inhabitants escaped before the attack, those who did not move to New Covenant took up homes in Orok's Basin, swelling the total population to approximately 10,000. Orok's Basin is the Port City for the territory of Frostgate and is the trading and merchant center of the area.

  • The Low Docks - The primary docks used in Orok's Basin for importing and exporting goods across The White Sea. These are by far the largest docks in Frostgate and have a variety of different levels and sizes to accommodate all sorts of sea vessels.
  • The High Docks - The secondary set of docks in Orok's Basin sees significantly less use than the Low Docks, but is in operation year round. In the deepest winters the White Sea freezes and the coastline swells making a majority of The Low Docks unusable. When this happens the few ships that continue to brave the treacherous White Sea are forced to use the High Docks. The High Docks are also well designed for the use of Ice Boats which use the High Docks year round.
    • The Air Dock - The Air Dock is an old converted lighthouse that now serves as a docking bay for Hastlanti Ait boats that wish to trade in Orok's Basin. The Air Dock can accommodate only one vessel at a time and is in some need of repair, craftsmen with the skill to work on such an old and complicated structure are rare in the north. Frostgate currently controls no air vessels of it's own to dock at the Air Dock.
  • The Merchant District - The Merchant District is probably the largest district in Orok's Basin and houses the Guild Headquarters for the City as well as a wide variety of merchant shops and smaller warehouses. (Larger Warehouses for raw materials are held in The Slums)
  • The Government District - The Government District contains the necessary government centers and buildings to keep the city operating smoothly as well as the military centers and academies originally set up by The Realm now occupied and expanded by Cecil Ithin and Farem Haraku.
    • Frostgate Military Academy & Expansionary Barracks - Perhaps the largest building in Orok's Basin is the Military Academy and Barracks that serves as the center for the expansionary force of Frostgate, led by Cecil Ithin. Expansionary troops as well as new recruits into Haraku's Local Guard can be trained here, but expansionary troops are given a space in the barracks after graduation while local guards are sent out to their posts.
  • The Housing District - The largest housing district in Orok's Basin that houses the majority of Orok's 10,000 inhabitants, for the most part this is middle class housing but as it moves away from the white sea the housing increases in value.
  • The Small Docks & Upper Class - The Small Docks are mostly used for visiting purposes as well as storing private vessels of the more wealthy inhabitants of Orok's. This upper class district also houses a small number of expensive housing and high end shopping and restaurants.
  • The Slums - The lowest class district in Orok's Basin also experiences the most flux of any district. The low elevation of the district leaves it prone to flooding and ice storms and only those unable to afford better housing make their homes here. Other parts of the district are used for larger storage, massive warehouses store raw materials waiting to be shipped out of the city.
