Domain Migration

Dan, first step to migrating the domain is you need to give me the Auth code of your domain so I can initiate the transfer. http://faq.1and1.com/domains/moving_domains_from_one_package_to_another_/4.html

Also, you should take a backup of the SQL database and all the files up there.

Two things:

  • If we RP this weekend, Friday is better than Saturday for me, but I could swing Saturday if needed
  • Dan, post your domain transfer authentication code on the wiki and I'll initiate the transfer

Transfer requested, now you have to go in and approve it. Next up we need a database dump of the wiki and all the files...

I'm gonna take a look at this tonight. I did at look what our hard deadline was and it's actually somewhere in the range of the 30th, not the 10th, so we have more time than I initially estimated. I still intend to have this process finished in its entirety by Monday.

So, has anyone noticed that the Protoss are pretty much the Na'vi, except with less nature and more glowing gold-plated technology? Dan 12:32, 12 March 2010 (EST)

If we play this weekend, Friday is better for me, but I can swing Saturday if needed. The time change is another reason Friday is better. Kirkland 16:12, 10 March 2010 (EST)

Forgot about the time change. Either day works for me though, Friday being slightly better probably. --FyreFly 17:53, 10 March 2010 (EST)

Sounds like Friday evening is the game plan. We can figure out dinner then after that until Dan H. calls it a night, Dan's house the plan for location? --FyreFly 19:26, 11 March 2010 (EST)

Shadowrun

Tony, I don't know if you've put any thought into a storyline yet, but I thought something revolving around the colonization of the moon or Mars would be pretty cool. There could be any number of reasons (technological, mystical) why a corporation or government or dragon would want to control another world. It could be a race to get there first. This could also work for a OWOD storyline (though I'm still in love with The Looking Glass as well).

I've been brainstorming for a character, and came up with this, though depending on the setting and story I will need to tweak it of course. But I'd like to play a former corporate executive. He was found to be a "leak," selling corporate secrets and information to the highest bidder for years. He's been on the run for a while, and has essentially revamped his identity (perhaps a facial transplant, or other alterations so he is not recognizable from his old self). The corporation has called off the hunt, but if he turned up somewhere they would still be out to gt him.

So he would be good at leadership, manipulation, he'd be ridiculously wealthy, but quite a lavish spender as well, addicted to the lifestyle he had as an executive. He'd retain a swath of corporate knowledge and he'd be an adept social engineer. He'd lack at hardcore combat skills, low-level streetwise, and tasks he felt were too menial for him. His hacking skills would be low-to-moderate, he would have a broad knowledge of information systems but does not spend much of his time actually hacking.

Obviously, this guy has some moral issues - very selfish, greedy, and difficult to trust. Willing to bite the hand that fed him for so long. I think this might be a good complement to Melvin, though they overlap a little bit socially, they have very different bases of knowledge (if I remember Melvin correctly).

Thoughts?

You addressed this Tony, but I had some input. I absolutely adore the idea of having Mars colonized (See: Kaubôi bibappu), so I'd be all about that. It sounds like we'd have a pretty combat-weak group, with 2/3 or 1/2 of the players using primarily social characters. Fortunately, if we're colonizing Mars, I can make a bounty hunter with kung fu skills and a smoking problem who I swear isn't a copy of Spike Spiegel.

Like I said I can tweak the idea, if combat is essential to the storyline then we don't want to be too stacked with social characters. Though one way to mitigate that problem is to have some hired hands. This is just one character idea I had at lunch today; I could go with something completely different once I hear more about the storyline.

In-Person

  • Exalted: Overworld (North)
  • Choice of
    • Shadowrun - Tony or Brian ST
    • New WOD - DK ST

Dan H. - Voting for Shadowrun in person (I am not opposed to new WoD in the least, and I won't be disappointed if we play it; that said, if forced to cast a vote, it'd be for Shadowrun). I'd be reprising my role as Melvin Richter, albeit with a few changes. He'd still be filling a face-type role, with some secondary abilities that make him useful as an infiltrator (disguise, lying, basic hacking, etc). He'd be light on the cybernetics, and no magic. If we play new WoD, I'll need to learn how it works before pitching any character ideas ^_^. I am willing to work on a d10 Shadowrun system - I have faith in our ability to make it work smoothly after seeing how well SW went.
