I had to tell someone.  I figured Kirk would appreciate this.  Bluetooth quit working spontaneously on my Windows install, and I had been thinking of installing Linux on my work laptop for awhile (I was sick of X11 tunneling with PuTTY in Windows), so I decided to install it.  I was feeling a little bit rusty on my *nix skills, so to get back in the game, I installed ArchLinux (I thought about installing FreeBSD, but that's a bridge too far), a notoriously bitchy distro that makes you do everything from the ground up.

Session with Dan
Dan H is in town starting on the 21st right? We'll have to find a day we can run a session someplace in there and determine what game we are playing and if any adjustments need to be made prior to playing. Let us know whats up. --FyreFly 21:35, 11 December 2011 (EST)
Let's figure out what day is best:
*Wed. 12/21
*Thu. 12/22
*Fri. 12/23 - Brian gives this a maybe, still trying to figure out if I will be in town
*Mon. 12/26 - Brian rules this out
Also Dan, do you want storytell Grass Spiders/Exalted or do you want me to run a Shadowrun session? Either way we will need some time to make a new character/update our existing ones. Kirkland 10:07, 13 December 2011 (EST)
The only day that I would be a maybe on is Monday, and Brian already ruled it out. I am a go for all the other days. --Macabreengel 17:32, 13 December 2011 (EST)
I think I am go for all those days. --FyreFly 19:10, 13 December 2011 (EST)
I am a go for 21, 22, and 23 (I'll be out of town on the 26th).  Let's plan for the 22nd - I get in the evening of the 21st and probably won't be at the top of my game to ST (though I'd love to hang out).  I am ready to rock on some Grass Spiders if we wanna do that.  If you guys have a preference for Shadowrun, I'm totally cool with that too.  I'd lean slightly toward Grass Spiders.  The jist of the mission I'm considering running is the following:  After the last mission at the Spiral Academy, the Grass Spiders decided to lay low in order to avoid a shadow war with the White Veil Society, so they've stayed away from high profile missions.  That means all of the characters have mainly been working solo or in pairs for about a year.  For reasons unknown (as per normal), Gyoki accepts a ridiculously high-profile contract out of nowhere.  It involves infiltrating a major gladiatorial competition jointly hosted by Chiaroscuro and Paragon.  There, the Grass-Spiders don't have to actually kill anyone, but must temporarily convince the Tri-Khan that the Perfect of Paragon has been assassinated by the Grass-Spiders while simultaneously convincing the Perfect of the same thing about the Tri-Khan.  I expect disaster to ensue.

That works for me, though I assume a majority of us are planning to work on Friday the 23 so session length will be mildly limited compared to if we did it on the 23. Though obviously if Brian is out of town the 22 is good to go. --FyreFly 22:33, 13 December 2011 (EST)
I'm actually off Friday 12/23 so that's not a concern for me. Sounds like it will be Grass Spiders. Any guidelines for updating our characters, experience wise? Kirkland 16:27, 14 December 2011 (EST)
12/23 should work for me as well!  My figuring is that the characters end up doing about ~15 missions over the year, and since they're lower profile jobs, they're about 2 exp/mission, which results in 30 exp.  Additionally, the downtime naturally results in background growth, so everyone has 5 background dots to use on top of the 30 exp.  If you're upping a background to 5, post a paragraph to explain how that happened (I wouldn't ask for a story on this short of notice, but having a background raised to 5 should at least have some sort of noteworthy anecdote to accompany it).  How does that sound?
Dan 20:39, 14 December 2011 (EST)
Should I plug in 15 EXP for Moon (I think that's in keeping with how we were doing her exp.) - --FyreFly 23:31, 17 December 2011 (EST)
Yeah, Moon and Naru will be on the mission with us, and they should 15 EXP each along with +3 background dots.  Also, I know we're set to RP 12/23, would any of you guys wanna hang out/grab dinner any time?

Thought we were doing Thursday 12/22 after work, right? Turns out I am going to Akron 12/23 so that day's out... Kirkland 14:26, 19 December 2011 (EST)
BOOO Akron! Thursday 12/22 is fine though I'm currently scheduled to work Friday so session length could be limited. (I think DK is too.) And yea Dan I'm cool for dinner/hanging out whenever. You get in Tuesday night right? So dinner on Wednesday or Friday? (I know Ellie wants to get a chance to see you a bit longer this time.) --FyreFly 20:28, 19 December 2011 (EST)
Yo.  12/22 works for me too.  I actually get in Wednesday afternoon (about 3PM), but dinner Wednesday or Friday should still work.  There's one of those days where my parents are going out with their friends and I was thinking about joining them, but it's more important to me to catch up with you guys.  If I can fit both in, awesome, but if not, I'm still planning on making it out with you guys.

Linux v. Windows

Bluetooth worked out of the box. On a distro that prides itself on installing essentially nothing out of the box. I was slack-jawed.

Legend

Just heard about this really cool sounding RPG on Slashdot/RPG.net. Its based on D20 but seems to have changed up quite a bit of stuff, RPG.net gives it a glowing review. [1]

Downloading the pdf is free (Pay whatever you like) and they are donating all proceeds to charity which is bonus. I downloaded the pdf and assuming it's not crap will probably give a bit of a donation.

Legends website is here: [2]
